And may I add that in the US it has been increasingly difficult to attract young people to a career in production agriculture. Strangely enough, young people today want vacations, health and pension benefits, and a chance for personal growth and greater responsibility. None of these things is available in the "Ma & Pa" world of artisinal farming. Popular culture has created the myth of the "small farmer", which, like the buckaroo and the gunfighter are anachronisms at best.
