The Chief Palestinian negotiator has said the long expected "Two State" solution of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict is dead. His reason is the position taken by the Israeli leadership as its pre-condition for negotiations:

Israel is a representative democracy, not a direct democracy like Athens in the time of Pericles. The Jews are not the same thing as the Israelis and the Israelis are not the same as the government of Israel. If you want to place some amount of blame on Israelis who have voted for governments which support any of the actions the Israeli government has taken which you disagree with, that's one thing; it's quite another to lay the Israeli government's actions at the feet of the Jews. Sarah Silverman may be responsible for a lot of terrible comedy, but she is not responsible for civilian deaths in Israeli rocket attacks.

I can't say I've heard of a democracy where land/house sales are limited to one section of the community or where the amount of education investment varies depending on the recipient's religion or where citizens are routinely evicted from their houses and the land/house turned over to terrorists..
