When members of a political party are running around labeling anyone that disagrees with them as nothing more then a bunch of "evil mongering, fascist bigots", it's hard to take them serious when they are painting the other major party as "extremists".

Just another BS post from someone that is clearly NOT an independent. Note that all the independents I know (and I'm one), ALSO don't like people who claim the existing President isn't an America, call him a commie, and try to use fear that the USA is doomed because of socialism (when both parties have support socialist programs like Medicare, Social Security, FEIC, SEC, etc.. for decades).

Yes, it is very hard to take those types of extremist Cons serious. Add to this ones that believe the earth is only 5,500 years or that evolution is BS and one has a wacko.

What most independents care about is fiscal restraint. IF the GOP runs on this and NOT any of the other BS than they have a change.

On foreign policy issues the independents I know are split on this; some favor pulling out of both wars while others support more troops in Afghan and doing what it takes. Thus being a hawk isn't a sure way to get an independent vote or it isn't likely to scare them off either.

That is what happened. It couldn't be that the two democrats who lost were just lousy candidates. It has to have a much larger message.....like the impeachment of Obama is imminent.

The remaining 20% of the voters who call themselves republicans are, in fact, extreme. They are the folks who think Obama was born in Kenya, that Ayers was his best friend....that Obama is a socialist. They are the people who claim that Obama has taken over GM and most of the banks.

A lot of these "tea party" "independents" are actually hard core right wingers.

Most of them cheered loudly for George W Bush and looked the other way at his borrow and spend fiscal policies and dismissed the rampant corruption.

Now that the Bush legacy had come home to roost, they pretend that they're "independant" even though Fox Noise still tells them what to think, do and say.

Independents don't believe either party's garbage. And they recognize there's hardly a nickel's worth of difference between them. Both are big government, corporate-statist, corrupt to the core, fear-mongering gangs of mediocre, non-productive parasites.

Don't sugar coat it, gmat, tell it like it is. Makes you wonder. A successful business maintains a certain number of employees, each with a specific job to do and often cross trained to help fill in when one is out. Lately many have had to lay off and make sure everyone is cross trained to do the job of two within the same hours. Gee, I wonder why?

And have you noticed that the media barkers are all telling us about the polls taken indicate that people are most concerned about the economy and jobs? And why isn't the small business community afforded the same attention as the bankers and insurance giants? Sure, small business' employ the most people. What about the large factories? What about enticing the ones who've moved off shore to return? When you see all of the cheap junk and crummy clothing at Walmart don't you ever think that all of that product was once produced here in the USA?

I call these guys "Glenn Beck 'Independents'"...i.e. vote a straight Republican ticket, but claim it's "only because the Democrats are so bad". But unless they are in a Solid Red (no chance of GOP losing) or Solid Blue (no chance of GOP winning)....they don't vote 3rd party.

It's hard to take the Right seriously either when it brands Obama or the Left as 'anti-American, terrorist-loving socialist scum,' or whatever the insult-of-the-month is.

What it boils down to is that every adult gets a vote. That's all we get, and that's all we have coming to us. This time next year, we'll see about an Obama referendum. When gridlock settles back in, then we'll have a true idea .

Every time I hear it, it reminds me of their lack of education. That is, they must have missed that part of grade school where we were taught the difference between a noun - Democrat - and an adjective - Democratic. Either that, or they were educated in a school where perhaps the teachers were unaware of the difference. It's worked okay for them until recently because in the case of their party - Republican - the noun and the adjective are one and the same.
