Did liberals really lose big last night?
by BritBailey

John Cornyn, Republican Senator from Texas, ran ads declaring his determination to do all he can to protect Medicare coverage for seniors.

I'm not too worried about the liberal agenda. Right before our eyes, every single day, we are reminded that liberals are indeed winning.

Picked up two seats. Also, the GOP winners were moderates not conservative ideologues. The country keeps moving left all the time, even the conservatives are lefties deep down. Now, if only we can get them to stop fearing gay people....

McDonnell is not and never has never been a moderate. You are correct that he did not run on a heavily ideological platform. The lesson last night was once more that winning over moderates is a better strategy than trying to fire up the extremists, and that declaring a holy war against your own party is a losing strategy.

Oh, and also that there has been no ideological realignment. Sorry, libs, but people dislike your ideas today just as much as they did in 1972 and 1984. Obama's poll numbers are dropping every day as the public sees where he really stands beyond the saccharine rhetoric of his campaign.
