Too bad if you live in California

Look for similar cuts for all of us in the HC bill goes through. Sure it's supposed to be "temporary"......just a loaner..... yeah, right.

SACRAMENTO, CA- If you work in California, get ready for less of a paycheck starting on Nov. 1.

It's far from a post-Halloween gag. Soon, a little known part of last summer's legeslative budget deal will take effect, that will increase a withholding tax between now and next April.

The amount of state income taxes withheld from paychecks will increase 10 percent next week.

For someone making about $20,000 dollars per year, state withholding is only about $8. A 10 percent increase will push that up by about $1. Those making upward of $75,000 could see an additional $16 in witholding.

"It's a short term fix to a long-term problem with no guarantee it will work, " said Sacramento CPA Dawn Cornelius.

For state workers, it's a tough sell.

"We've seen furloughs and pay cuts. This is just one more thing that nobody really likes to see, " said state worker Roberta Schueler.

No big deal, such a tiny amount.

I wasn't thrilled with the tag fees on my new car though, wrote a check for $790 last night.

Ouch.

Re: I do.
by sashal12

congrats on a new car.

As far as "no big dea"

it is -for the raped in the brain Rush afficionados.

Anything lie and smear to fail/slime the country and her President goes. Even if the stupid person can actually be a beneficiary of new policies.

Such a stupidity prevails on the URW fringes of the GOP

Re: I do.
by Bruja

you think that's bad, we pay personal property tax every year here. I have to pay another 5 bills a year on my car (goes up every year too) and that goes for everything you own, from campers to cars. Such bullshit. We pay taxes when we buy the shit, why we have to keep paying taxes is beyond me

Thanks.

Even in the 90s I couldn't stomach Rush in his relentless tirades against Clinton, who I viewed as a moderate Dem. His black and white vision of the political world was always too biased for me to view as an honest take.

I really don't see much future for the party if the extremist wing is seizing control.

Yep. That's a Republican Governor, for ya!

But really...I'm not too broken up about it. I've always been of the mindset that if you want shit...you gotta pay for it.

You nut-wingers, on the other hand, always want "tax cuts", and cry bloody murder when the bill comes due.

It's no surprise that a person of your mindset, is "feigning" feeling sorry for us.

;-)

Well, cargirl

Since she stated that "Obama drove her" to The Dope Fiend Rush's arms, she'll be repeating the stuff he pukes out every day. What losers to have Rush as their idol.

I like more bang for my buck when I spend, Mr Pinko. I love California but wouldn't ever want to live there again.

Aren't you in the midwest now? Don't answer that if you don't want to.

I confess to ignorance, never heard of personal property taxes.

Car tag fees were doubled recently here, but I can live with that over further education cuts. Still painful though.

I don't feel sorry for you, cg

nor did I say that I did. It's your choice to live in a place where you don't get much bang for your buck.

yep...missouri

Taxable personal property consists of motor vehicles, trailers, mobile homes, watercraft, boat motors, aircraft, livestock, farm machinery and equipment, agricultural crops, and any other personal property not exempted by law. Taxation of business enterprises is not included here because its complexity is beyond the scope of this explanation.

Your tax is calculated by dividing the assessed value of your property by 100 and then multiplying that result by the tax levy. The formula looks like this:

(Assessed Value / 100) x Tax Levy.

Yes. Each year you are required to make a list, called an assessment list, of all of your taxable personal property and mail or deliver this list to the County Assessor's office in the county where you lived on the first day of January. This list is due no later than the first of March.

It's expensive here, big time.

I just roll with it, make lots (well not nearly as much, took a HUGE pay cut due to the economic meltdown) spend lots, give away some.

I've always lived this way, somehow it all works out. Coffins don't have pockets :-)

How do you know "what I get"?

I like Cali.

Don't blame the fact that you're unfit to make it here, on me.

Considering you have the 17th highest poverty rate in the country; you have a lot of "unfits" living there.
