suppose you had $100 million to give away . . .

suppose you had an extra $100 million lying around, for want of purpose.

America DOESNT actually have a spare $100 million (we have a trillion dollar deficit) but thats another matter.

Go with the premise that we DO have an extra $100 million - what should we do with it?

Before you answer, let's thicken the plot - Hillary gets to spend it.

Can you guess what she did with it?

If you answered "gave to arab states in the middle east this week". you're a winner <link>

this would be the same middle east which is basically a giant oil field with national flags, and is so rich its building a giant resort island in the shape of a palm tree, big enough to hold a million people.

so why is hillary giving money to THESE guys?

seems like she felt the need to "apologize" after backing down from the US position that Israel should build no more settlements in occupied territories. Hillary incurred region-wide arab wrath for suggesting America was changing course, and was giving a green light to more settlements (full disclosure - BA is firmly against more settlements, and firmly against the Iranian policy of "incinerating the mistake that is israel")

so, to make amends for her faux pas, hillary is "donating" $100 million of our tax dollars (actually your kids tax dollars, not including interest) to the oil guys.

and to think i used to be a hillary fan.

i take it all back

I read the article, I can see her rationale. It's a new and innovative move on her and Obama's part to offer in educational opportunities and help for Muslims who are dislocated by the Israelis.(however I see the irony of the fact that the Saudi Nation is already so damn rich from our oil revenues, that one would think they could take this burden on themselves).

I suppose it is a political strategy she and Obama feel may show some balance and equity about the complaint that the U.S. always takes Israel's side.

The problem inherent in all of this, as no doubt Clinton, unlike Obama ,is probably already well aware of is this move will be met with derision from Palestine as not enough or not even worth attempting to trust. But, Hillary is under the control of whatever Obama wants to try and manage in the Middle East. And so, she goes and gives it her best shot.

But, as we see in the article, of course, the Palestinians have already stated just that. ie....they don't like it, trust it or accept the offer , even as it is a very generous heart felt one given in order to help them..

....so much for trying to talk sense to The Palestinians.

It just can't be done.

Clinton to her credit is trying to do the best she can operating under the very naive' and uninformed Mr. Obama and his unusually uneducated knowledge of just what sort of antipathy he is up against with the radical, fanatic Muslims, who still, no matter what, will continue to cry: "Death To America/Israel and The Infidels!"

As Barry Goldwater said: "They are all a bunch a lunatics in the Middle East." "Better to just let them blow themselves to kingdom come."

I don't really mean that I hope they blow themselves up, of course. But, I can certainly understand why Goldwater said that.

It is so seemingly intractable and an unyielding a problem, in the Middle East, with it's endless hatred and war between the Radical Muslims and The Israelis.

I'd buy a island and wait untill the rightwing religious extreemists kill off all who disagree with them and then turn on their own.Nah, just kidding.

Here is what I would do with 100 million to give away...
by Woolley

If the recipient had to be someone other than family....

1. 10 million to Cal Trout

2. 5 million to Trout Unlimited

3. 5 million to United Anglers.

4. 5 million to Doctors without Borders

5. 10 million to Sierra Club

6. 65 million to Nature Conservancy.

That's 100 million.

so why did Bush, and Reagan
by Kira Argounova

and every other President give money to "these guys?"

It might help if you at least pretend to ask honest questions.....

debating 101 for kira
by baltimore aureole

whenever people criticized bush, his supporters would say "clinton was bad too"

you're simply perpetuating a pathetically discredited technique for EVADING the topic, and changing it to something else

in actual debating this would be considered a "win" for the other side, since its a tacit admission that you are unable to command any facts or logic to refute the original premise

i take no pride in my victory however. i prefer to defeat qualified and erudite opponents in a debate.

Facts (not for b_a):

Per capita GDP (from the CIA world factbook):

Jordan = $5,100 (world rank = 112).

Yemen = $2,400 (world rank = 142).

Don`t be absurd.

I haven`t criticized anyone. You criticized Obama. But with the same evidence, you chose to not criticize, say, Bush. You`re inconsistent. You`re an idiot too. But that`s another matter. You`re inconsistent. That`s all I pointed out.
