Just a reminder
by apollonius...

What a pack of uninformed and misdirected assholes. I know some of us are going to be saved but I think I can guarantee that 96% of the people who post here are going to be burned toast. I used to regret that I didn't get a college diploma although I made the dean's list for every semester but now I see what comes of too much information wrongly sourced and no wisdom whatsoever.

You know... I could save all of you a great deal of personal grief but I am the last person you will come to. So be it.

96% of us will be burned toast?

oh gosh that probably means me.

my subject line is an actual historical quote. you're sometimes erudite apollonius - can you advise where it comes from?

As I said in a former life, "Human's are the only animal that blush, or need to."

Every single one of you so inclined could escape the wrath. Believe me when I tell you you can. It is a simple thing. Of course I loved Hawaii when I was in ill health at another time and I got grumpy in my later years and despite all that shit about Halley's Comet. It does not cancel out the years I spent in the Himalayas afterwards as a student in the divine legacy of Babaji, Lahiri Mahasaya, Sri Yuktewar and my beloved master Paramahansa Yogananda. I can tell you this now because it is fucking blowing up and there is no shut off switch. The shit is about to hit the fan and it is immanent. I don't care what you believe in but you had better believe in something because otherwise you are fucked. I have been telling you for some time but now it is the time. Prepare yourselves.

the most successful ones postulate a vague future date for the apocalypse.

this gives them time to generate momentum and acolytes.

by declaring the imminent end of the world you provide little incentive for people to flock to your cause, engage in polygamous marriage to the cult leader, and hand over all their personal wealth.

just think if you're wrong about the world coming to an end next week, apollo? you need to plan for the future.

Open an IRA. Stop smoking. Lose weight. Find a nice girl (or boy) and settle down. Even if the world does end tomorrow, you won't be at a loss for having lived as if there was a future.

That's not true. There are numerous aquatic animals that blush. The fish of the African rift lakes change color according to their mood, using a process that is essentially identical to blushing. We're rank amateurs in the blushing game compared to them.

Actually no.

Actually cold blooded animals change colors by moving pigment around within cells called chromatophores, humans blush due to changes in blood flow in the skin.

just like to point out that

there are much worse things to be than burnt toast.

I do actually, by the way, enjoy burnt toast. Now then - you failed to mention when, exactly, I get to become what I eat?

... your argument is with Polo.

If you were to pay closer attention to our discussion, it was about the mechanism by which fish change colors, as opposed to that responsible for human blushing.

BTW, I have a friend whose dog would blush deeply when he was held up to display his recently emptied scrotum, and his trip to the vet was discussed.

Just so you know.

I stand corrected. The purpose is similar though....a reaction to emotion....or whatever the fish equivelent to emotion is.

When I last spoke with the guy from the future who visits me sometimes via time machine, he told me that only four percent of adults now living survive long enough to be made immortal by the coming singularity. Send Ray Kurzweil a fruit basket NOW.

Well, considering Michael 09 came on board in full support of appy and his anti Israeli viewpoints, I'd say it's a fair bet, you're on his 96% list and M09 may be one of the 4% of okay posters (in apply's mind) who won't need to apply Sun Block for the coming toast a thon.

Curiously, funny top post, indeed.
