cruise control: I never use it. Why? I forget that I'm driving. My mind wonders. I feel I have less control of the car with just hands on the wheel than with hands on the wheel on foot on the pedals. I get bored and distracted. Then I come up on some traffic or a slower moving car, and I'm like oh crap, I have to break...wait...foot goes on break...it's a process, not an instant reaction. People need to be actively involved in the process of driving at all times. It's like playing a sport- I'm much more productive in a soccer game if I start. If I come in second string or sit in the bench too long after the half, I'm removed from the game, my reflexes aren't as connected to what's going on.
