Bisphenol A lines the cans
by Lorichen

Note, most canned goods are not in purely metal cans. The cans are often lined with a plastic which includes Bisphenol A, a plastisizer which is a synthetic estrogen and leeches into the contents of the can. Bisphenol A exposure in even small amounts can affect developing fetuses. Bishenol A, (BPA), is a hormone disruptor adn is linked to heart disease and diabetes, and obesity.

I vote for beans from the bulk section of the grocery and bring a reusable bag and transfer the beans to a nonplastic container for storage before use.
