A problem I had with the original V, which apparently will be continued over to the new, is that the aliens come to Earth to steal water. This is silly since water is not scarce. Comets are 80+% water and of virtually unlimited number. They orbit freely in and near our solar system and probably most others as well. The aliens have huge spacecraft and can no doubt build specialized designs just for comet harvesting. As a bonus that part of the comet that is not frozen water is probably decent metal ores that can be used.

Coming to Earth to steal water is the equivalent of me traveling into a city to steal leaves from a park when I live next to some woods in the suburbs. There's just no reason to make the trip for that purpose. Science fiction writers have used the idea of using comets as sources of water and mining wealth for decades. One would think the writers of V would know this.

Not that I really want to get into some kind of goofy debate about the possible, but potable water is going to be the next big problem. Right now, we flush is doen the toilet joyously; 'tomorrow,' we'll be selling it.

Fresh water is rare on Earth. Once you have interplanetary travel, not so much.

Why would we believe those "scientists"? They've never let us drink comet water. Maybe they're hoarding all the comet water for themselves!

Oooh.....okay, who whant's to join in a start-up comapny.....if Spain can build a Space Hotel, why can't we get together and build a comet-catcher, and sell bottled "Space Water" (as old as the universe! taste the eons in every sip, guaranteed free of Earth-born chemicals!)

If bottled Fiji water commands a premium, think of the premium price point for bottled comet water!

Come up with some good health benefits, and you'd have the Hollywood crowd in a heartbeat. Put a high enough price on it, and you'd have every wanker with $$ to burn clamoring to be 'better' than the common grunt. :)
