These Levi's commercials are pathetic attempts at copying Calvin Klein commercials. I guess if Levi's is trying to say they're the new Calvin Klein based on the economy then the theory works, BUT, I doubt that's what they're going for. I'm sure Calvin Klein is more then happy to accept the old saying "immitation is the finest form of flattery" based on that idea.
Anyone in their right mind realizes Levi's is no longer an American company, another victim of symbolic American companies exported to another country to make a quick buck. Like free agency in professional sports, there's no loyalty anymore. You never see a big-name player taking a pay-cut to stay with his originally drafted team--it's the almighty dollar that wins every time. Just the same, you never see an American company staying state-side and turning down some extra bucks in order to show the American people they have morals and will stay where they started. It's one thing to go for that old "world peace and prosperity" idea but in this economy, I'd like to think CEO's of American companies are stopping in their tracks and realizing this might be a good time to be selfish and look out for our economy before going global. That is what Democrats are known for anyways--to stabilize and increase the national economy and improve global relations through economics and militarily as well. So, in time, I believe Obama will improve our economy in the same way Clinton did in the 90's. It would be nice for those American CEO's to do their part to give it a jump-start though.
If Levi's was smart, the CEO would schedule a stockholder's meeting and hold a vote to one simple question: who is in favor of Levi's being sold to an American thus re-gaining it's title as a true American company? I'm sure the vote would be close to unanimous in favor of that idea and the ball would be put into motion to bring Levi's back where it belongs: in the U.S.A.
