Fray poll.
by Pogue Mahone
Overall, are tonight's election results a victory for the right, or for the left?
clearly the right.

but they'll overstate it as repudiation of all things obama (and dems) - which it ain't...

Definitely for the right.

And if leftys don't think so......and particularly if those in DC (Obama, etc) don't think so and make some "changes" (like they promised) then there is going to be a very rude awakening a year from now.

I expect them to keep their heads in the sand (I've seen evidence of that in some lib posts here tonight). That's a good thing.

They'll never see it coming.

Not so much a victory for conservatives as it is a defeat for the Obungler administration and libturds. The tide will continue to rise against the left and they will suffer devatating losses in 2010. None too soon, I might add.

I disagree with both you and ctbiker. The left clearly has a better spin machine, and the loss in NY-23 provides an opportunity for the left to at the very least solidify support for the two party system. The two party system benefits the left because the two parties are dem and dem lite. Both parties agree that big government is the solution to everything.....they just disagree on the pace of the transformation, and on who should benefit monetarily from it.

It would have been better for the right if my original prediction was correct, and Corazine and Hoffman both had won. Right now the case can be made that the right needs to rally around the reps if they hope to win, and the reps betray conservatives routinely.

Notice I didn't ask if the results were better for the reps or the dems, I asked if they were better for the right or the left.

How many Senate seats will GOPs gain in 2010?

Tell me about the "devastating losses".

What do you want to know? How do you believe the voters will react in 2010 with climbing unemployment, Obungler attempting to dictate salaries and wages, taking over private businesses, spending like a drug addict, and his failure to act in Afghanistan. I won't even get into the health "reform" fiasco.

I don't know, but I imagine it will be enough to get rid of the dem supermajority. I'd still rather see independents get those seats.

If the Republicans can manage to shove out the RINO's and the neocons (who are less predominant right now anyway) they can become the Conservative Party once again and that is what needs to happen.

And ..... technically you are right that the Conservative guy needed to win more than the two governor republicans.....but that is a nuance that would probably have been lost on most people.

Conservative Americans will understand the two wins that happened better and it may give them the push they need to restore the Republican Party as the conservative base that it should be.

So while I agree with and understand what you are saying - you are looking at it too deeply than most Americans are able to look at it. So I'll stay with my original answer.

i have to laugh - because where you see the two parties as dem and dem lite, i see them as gop and gop lite...

it may have been better for dems for hoffman to win in NY-23 because that would embolden tea-baggers to nominate even further right, fringier candidates like rubio in florida over the more moderate-palatable crist. as it is, NY-23 will have a fairly easy to pick-off, outlier-type dem incumbent in owens...

corzine turned out to be a fairly mediocre governor and new jersey is the second most ungovernable state after california - christie's welcome to it as far as i'm concerned... as for VA governor, up here in CT, who cares?

nahhh
by rekibtc

for dems, 'devastating' would be much bigger than the expected 16-20 seat loss in the house and holding steady to increasing dem seats in the senate...

you keep forgetting that as weak as the dems may be next year, they still look much better to independents/moderates/swing voters than gopers - and the BS they're trying to peddle as issues...

Are you a Yankees fan or a Red Sox fan? One never knows with you Connecticut types. Officially you're New Englanders, I suppose......but I see alot of Yankees hats when I'm down there.....
Re: Fray poll.

we're mixed all thru the state - but a little further north of me and its all red sox territory...

i'm actually a twins fan because that's where i was when they won in 1987 and i have very fond memories of that time...

but i have to say this year, i'm hoping the yankees win it - for jeter as captain...
