Tough night for Dems

washingtonpost.com: News Alert 10:22 PM EST Tuesday, November 3, 2009 Christie defeats New Jersey Gov. Corzine. Republican Chris Christie defeats New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine. Posted 10:34 p.m., 11.3.2009 _______________________ Robert McCartney: It's official: The Post calls New Jersey for Christie, too. This makes the results tonight much worse for Obama and the national Democrats. The Democrats will try to spin this as a "local" result just as they'll spin Virginia as a "local" result owing to Deeds's missteps. They'll emphasize that Corzine was unpopular, because of high property taxes and some corruption scandals. But it'll be much harder for Obama to distance himself from the N.J. result. First, he made three trips to New Jersey, during which he held five appearances with Corzine. (By contrast, he made two trips and two appearances with Deeds in Virginia.) Voter registration is significantly more pro-Democratic in New Jersey than Virginia. Democrats in Virginia also benefited from the involvement of a third-party candidate, who diverted some of the anti-Corzine vote. Corzine had the advantages of incumbency. Despite all of that, the Republican won. And the Republicans won huge in Virginia. Tough night for the Democrats, no matter how they spin it.

ROTFLMFAO.

You won NJ only due to the 3rd party candidate. A majority voted against the fireplug.

Your vaunted NY 23 went for the Dem, rejecting the Conservative Bullshit Party.

Maine voted for gay marriage and medical marijuana.

Virginia is a non-starter since they have voted against the prez party in each of the last eight elections.

What was that you said about a tough night?

Fucking moran.

AP Nov 3

The president had personally campaigned for Deeds and Corzine, seeking to ensure that independents and base voters alike turned out even if he wasn't on the ballot — and voters still rejected them. Thus, the losses were blots on Obama's political standing to a certain degree and suggested potential problems ahead as he seeks to achieve his policy goals, protect Democratic majorities in Congress and expand his party's grip on governors' seats next fall.

Wow, so queers can now get married in Maine.............well that should make your jock strap itch.

Have a good posting day.
