Because it represents America's political view where we elect a bunch of sef righteous jack asses who everyone views as Gods, ie Obama, Reagan... and then expect to work miracles even though they are quite obviously company men who do the bidding of their party not the people. Then again, self interest is the only interest worth pursuing so why should they care?

Americans are not "drawn" to Rand.

If any Americans at all are or rather were, it's because selfishness is a basic human emotion. And that's all Rand ever was, was an appologist for greed and selfishness.

This does not excuse or support or criticize politicians, it only goes to what Rand stood for.

In fairness, Rand acheived success and fame in a USA which felt beset by Red Menace, Yellow Peril etc...On the otherhand, wasn't she a contemporary of L. Ron Hubbard?

We got Scientology...is it such a surprise we also have Libertarians?

Rand cared little for politics, although I'm sure she'd agree with your cynical view of our Presidents. However, she would have been equally annoyed by a political leader who actually was dedicated to doing the bidding of "the people".

Yes, Democracy is a pesky thing, isn't it? All those lice and unwashed masses actually having the right to vote. How plebeian.
