The lone Rifle in Pete's Office
by VT Biker

Did anyone else notice the rifle in Pete's office in the opening scene where he was lying on the couch, waiting for his hot coco?

Loved the foreshadowing of the Kennedy assassination.

I saw it and thought he was going to come out of his office firing after he was "fired" - instead, he came out with his briefcase and went home. Also ties to the Oswald-like black turtleneck in the later scene. You would think that after the lawnmower issue, they would limit the number of harmful objects in the office.

I agree. Sterling-Cooper certainly has a very poor safety culture. Of course, this was before "Disgruntled worker" became part of our national lexicon.

That may have been the rifle he bought himself after he returned a wedding gift in the first season. It was the object of a very strange story he told Peggy.
