jaywalking
by thankyoucapn
my feelings about jaywalkers are the same as my feelings about cyclists,my fellow motorists, and Charlie Rangel.simply put,if you can't follow the established rules, you don't get to make up your own....and you suffer the consequences of your actions.as a motorist,i'm required to be aware of signals, signs, and my fellow motorists.now throw into the mix someone jumping out into moving traffic from between cars,or in the case of where i live, from behind a tree on a median strip....it's a recipe for disaster.there are enough petty annoyances (guys with popped collars, backwards baseball caps, and guys over the age of 20 that call you "dude")in life without the dangerous ones as well.and if you absolutely MUST jaywalk, look before you leap, run like hell, don't saunter....because if you're a popped collar, backward baseball cap wearing 22 year old screaming "dude!" as i hurtle towards you like DeathRace 2000....i'm not stopping

Bullshit

You're offered the privilege of driving, and in return you should agree to take responsibility for your actions. You're partaking in an activity that is dangerous and causes the direct death of thousands of Americans every year for your own selfish benefit. If you can't hack the signals, signs, popped collars, 20 year olds, folks jumping from seemingly nowhere, trees, speeds and backward caps, then you have no business driving a car.

Being safe is easy: slow down, stop for everything, smile and wave, be a good little citizen, and get on with your life.
