It's a job loss recovery
by opus512

Economists will claim we're in a recovery, the government will too I imagine, everyone will claim we're in a recovery but we'll still be losing jobs. Not not creating jobs, not stopping the loss, but we will keep losing them.

We can't have a consumer based economy when we don't manufacture anything. We can't exist on service and professional jobs only. The only secotrs gorwing right now are govenrment and health care. Incidently, these will be the only sectors outside corporate management to have health care inside ten years.

There's only a couple ways to lower manufacturing costs, and that's with materials or labor. Labor is the easiest and fastest way to cut costs, and we been doing it for better than 20 years, because consumers demand lower and lower prices.

We moved our own jobs off shore to feed our consumerism.

I would think conservatives would support national health care from an economic standpoint of saving US jobs, but apparently they don't care if we keep losing them to cheaper labor overseas. There is a point where we could manufacture stuff here again at a cost less than shipping it 10,000 miles from the Middle East or China. We just need to get labor down to that point, it doesn't have to be on par with foreign labor, just cost effective. Getting health care off the backs of employers would help a lot in doing just that.

We also need to start looking at funding higher education like the rest of the world, too. That foreign countries subsidize their citizens to comes to the US to learn how to compete against us then go home to do just that should be of some concern, but it apparently isn't that big a deal either.

Other countries train their professionals, like doctors, for free, we saddle ours with massive debt. It ain't working.

China is where the hard-working, responsible workers are.
