Joe Wilson's an asshole

If some Democrat had spewed that line to Bush during one of his addresses to Congress, I'd say the same thing. Even with a dumbass like Bush, the office he held was more than the man that held it.

There's an old saying in the military; you salute the rank, not the man. Same goes for the prsident, you respect the office, if not the man in it. Joe Wilson clearly showed he has no respect for anything but his opinion of himself. In short, he's an asshole.

And the Republicans and conservatives have held him up as a hero. Their hero is an asshole. How apropos.

As for the GOP, heh, they're screwed. A majority of Americans consider themselves to be conservatives or moderate conservatives, and yet, the GOP has lost registered voters for the last 20 years, even as the general population claims to be turning more conservative.

The conservative party is losing members as the general population turns more conservative. I wonder why that is. Could it be because they're mostly assholes?

That's my bet. Most people don't like hanging around assholes, even when they agree with them.

I think maybe Joe Wilson should have thrown his shoes at Obama.

Erm...Joe Wilson does have a very effeminate voice. Didn't want to mention that......

I agree with your first paragraph Opus. No matter what kind of a tool a President is, they deserve at least some respect when speaking. The dems that booed pres. Bush when speaking had just as shameful of conduct as did this guy. None of them should be invited back to office.
invited back to office

I didn't know politicians were invited to office? It was my understanding they were elected.

Oh, well now that I know I'm not going to send them any more invites!

Time for a 3rd party, a small government party. I heard a lot of young people were inspired by Ron Paul in the primaries last year.

Sorry, next time I'll speak in simple, direct language. I didn't know English wasn't your native tongue.

I didn't agree with that, though it was a couple steps lower than screaming out "You lie!" in the middle of his speech.

One of the most shameful media displays I ever saw was when asshole Bryant Gumble all but openly calling then president Bush Sr. a liar on national TV in an interview when he was still in office. I wrote a couple letters on that one.

You respect the office, you respect the inrtitution, you respect the process. We have lost that respect completely now. Now, elected officials know that calling the president a liar to his face is a money maker for them, on both sides.

It will get far worse before it even starts getting a little bit better.

It won't get better. Let's scrap the USA and start over. What say you?
