"These are the bitter small town, gun toting, bible thumping folks
President Barack Hussein Obama was referring to during the campagin."
You're right. This is the essence of the "tea bag" movement.
And the mainstream GOP has been trying to get a rope around it for months.
First, Fox and Richard Mellon Scaife tried to hijack it on Aprl 15th.
Then in August, it was turned into a tool for insurance industry lobbyists (dick Armey).
But, I've seen this crowd up close and personal.
Go to their meetings, and you will hear a lot of disjointed nonsense about protecting the constitution (which seems to only consist of the Second Amendment), rants about non existant plans to take away people's guns, rants about taxes, and the overwhelming frustration and aleination of people who've been betrayed by the system.
Ironically, these people feed on the pablum of AM talk radio and Fox.
They're still drinking from the well run by their betrayers.
To a certain degree, this is cultural.
The sort of small town, small mind chauvanism, and parichial jingoism isn't' new in Amerca.
These people's parents joined the John Birch society and build bomb shelters in their basements.
Their grandparents listened to Father Couglin on the radio.
The message is the same.
Fear anyone who isn't white.
Suspect anyone who's ever actually read a book.
Fear foreigners.
Fear anyone except the man behind the curtain!
