report for midday is Procrastination-222, botf-193. those are replies showing on the main page for all posts showing on the main page and, as usual, Procrastination buries them.
Posts/replies posted on 11/2/09.

Roger that?
so you're trying to discriminate between traffic by the day
by MichaelRyerson
as opposed to the entire front page? how do you allow for intrathread replies spanning several days? for my purposes simply taking the reply activity shown on the entire front page is a good measure of the intellectual commerce of the board.

"how do you allow for intrathread replies spanning several days? "

By looking at the date of the last reply to each top-post. If there is one today,I open the thread and count the days' replies.

and you thumb through how many pages looking for

new responses? I think my method is better.
That's why they gave you the stripes and the big bucks..

I'm just a lowly Private. :)

yeah but you issued my title insurance policy!

A better way
by biteoftheweek

would be to look at quality of the posts.

I must admit, Botf hasn't change much since we left. Same posters posting the same stuff. Except tempo is back and posting about the most interesting subject that she has ever posted about.

It's a combination, eh?

Geezernation was never going to outstrip BOTF, for obvious reasons---both have solid posters, but the latter has more trash, and these days quite a bit more relative to the total percentage. So if the Geezer reply/thread counts are competitive, as they manifestly are, plus better quality, it's win-win.
Careful, Michael! 'Fore you know it, the relevant

comparison might be THIS little "hidey-hole" of yours surpassing BotF activity. Now, wouldn't that be funny!? I can see the headline now:

Fraysters Prefer Shameful Conduct Over The Best

this present iteration of 'shameful conduct' was intended

to provide Procrastination with some insulation from the lingering trench warfare being waged by the unfortunates who, regrettably, were left behind. as a consequence virtually all posts originating with the emigre's having to do with their former homeland (botf) appear here rather than out on the Procrastination main page. the unfortunates, however, use their wailing and gnashing of teeth to post endlessly about the elitist-meanies on the botf main page and use those flaming reply totals (made up largely of three or four unfortunates repeatedly posting replies so as to bump up the total) as evidence of botf's intellectual health. it is a sad cafe, that.
It seems that even the best of the worst

jd, has left the board.

Urq has taken to having conversations with lil.

Truly a sad state of affairs.

I notice several of them are actively conversing with lil. Normally I would be wondering what they are using for a translator, but then I noticed that if you repeat one word (any word) from his post (in any context) then he thinks you understand him.

Hmmmm

Actually, adopting the role of translator (or pretending to)

for lmg strikes me funniest of all.

Desperate times call for desperate measures?!
