Todays Paper
by Blue State Blues

Did I read somewhere that The Wall Street Journal now has the largest circulation of any newspaper, recently passing USA Today. all without comics, crosswords or sports.

One theory not mentioned by Dan Gross is that the November ’08 changing of the political guard in Washington has affected most print coverage of politics. Today, newspapers just have less interesting things to say. Gone is the questioning, the investigation, the challenging of prevailing political mores and theories. Today’s tepid; Pom-pom journalism is just not as interesting. A successful model for opinion journalism will question current political convention. If newspapers have become press agents for Washington Brahmins how could that be interesting?
