Hmmm. Apparently that guy gets around. You didn't even need to leave the mothership.

I know that our legislative process was designed to move slowly and deliberately, but one has to wonder just how long it will take for us to finally put to rest the Richard Nixon inspired counter-culture hysteria of the 1970's. After all, how many Americans actually belong to the John Birch Society? Surely no more than the number who support Sarah Palin for President in 2012?

Don't underestimate the power of Sarah Palin. She may not win at the ballot box, but culturally she seems to be at least as powerful as Rush Limbaugh these days....

You did see what happened in upstate NY with the 'moderate' GOP candidate ?

Yes, I'm aware of that story. I have to wonder if it represents a microcosm of what lies ahead for the GOP nationwide.
Let's hear it for both!

I haven't tried gay marriage and have no particular desire to, but it's time both were legal and accepted in any case...:)

Well, looks like Maine voters have no particular desire for gay marriage, but are okay with the weed (at least for medicinal purposes).....
Thanks to a lot of outside efforts

...by the agitprop purveyors of the Mormon Cult, that is. First it was California, now Maine....there's nothing those overbreeding Cultists won't do to deny gay people their rights.

When is the government going to investigate the LDS and take their tax exemption away? Some of us would like to know...

But let's face it, these efforts succeed only because a lot of folks continue to be ambivalent about gay marriage. The numbers are moving in the right direction, but they're moving slowly, and it may have to wait for another generation --- the 'cohort effect' seems to be trending in favor of gay marriage. But there are still too many folks of the older cohorts voting....
Definitely agree

....that it's aquestion of pushing an issue over the edge, and right now, most gay marriage rights issues are indeed on that edge - at best. Fundamentalist Christians are ardently opposed, and as with abortion rights, they come out to the polls to vote the way they're told to. Indeed, the Bushies used that fact to their benefit in 2004, when they had anti-gay marriage laws or amendments on the ballot in (I believe) 11 different states. Such an amendment in Ohio helped push that state over to Bush, for instance.
