Left Wing Hate Speech targets Lou Dobbs

Here's Some Real Hate Speech for You By Mark Krikorian, October 29, 2009

After the 2007 amnesty failed in the Senate, the open borders crowd decided to forego policy debates and turn up to 11 their efforts to demonize their opponents. As part of that strategy, the Southern Poverty Law Center was assigned to designate FAIR a "hate group," La Raza started a "We Can Stop the Hate" campaign, and the new radical-left group America's Voice posted an online election for the "Top Anti-Immigrant Wolf" (vote for me!).

But the chief target of this two-year hate has been Lou Dobbs. The "Drop Dobbs" campaign, to get CNN to fire the only anchor on their network whose show anyone watches, is sponsored by — surprise! — La Raza, the SPLC, Media Matters, LULAC, et al. Last Wednesday, October 21, saw a series of coordinated protests by open-borders groups in cities around the country. The following day, Geraldo Rivera said in a speech that the opponents of amnesty have been "reckless beyond imagining" and that Dobbs in particular "is almost singlehandedly responsible for creating, for being the architect of the young-Latino-as-scapegoat for everything that ails this country."

Well, their efforts are starting to pay off. No, CNN hasn't decided to fire Dobbs (which would cause them to drop behind the Hallmark Channel in viewership). Instead, someone fired a shot at Dobbs' house. As reported today by Fox News (!), a shot was fired on October 5 at Dobbs' home while he and his (Mexican-American) wife were out front; New Jersey State Police took the bullet for analysis.

Whatever you think of Dobbs' schtick, he's always clear that his fulminating is about illegal immigration. He's not even a restrictionist, for heaven's sake, having said a number of times that he favors increased legal immigration. But the open borders crowd believes — sincerely believes — that there can be no legitimate arguments against amnesty and for enforcement, so anyone taking those positions must, by definition, be evil. This is not a prescription for a healthy policy debate.

In a classic example of bad timing, this very evening America's Voice is set to air an ad on MSNBC (where else?) calling for Dobbs' firing because "Every weekday CNN airs 60 minutes of anti-immigrant hate." Will they have the decency to pull the ad, in light of the physical threat to Dobbs and his wife engendered by their hate campaign? Don't hold your breath.

Sad.

The various opposition/push back reactions to Lou Dobbs are about six years too late. He supported Bush's wars, he's been a Johnny-one note about immigration for years and the panels he assembles on this thing he calls a show are all rightwing and totally stacked against Democrats. The few weak Democrats he has on can barely get a word in. He should be on Fox but then again, CNN is just about 100% for Republican. James Carville (ugh) and Donna Shalala don't quite cut it, do they? The Dems chosen by CNN to represent their side are always weak and lame, on that channel. As for guns, well, it's your side that always is hysterically promoting and insisting that every home in America must have a least have a small arsenal of guns (It's the proud American way). You crazies insist in the face of thousands of gun related deaths each year that guns (semi-automatics?) are a necessasry precious resource, almost like ... water and the air we breathe. Dobbs, CNN, CSPAN, FOX and most of MSNBC suck.

OK......so you don't like the 1st or 2nd amendments............and I'm sure the 10th amendment is a big nuisance too.

Maybe you should eliminate the Bill of Rights along with Lou Dobbs.

Your pretty happy with Al Jazeera though, aren't you? I haven't seen you complain about that one.

Your comment is a non sequitor, Jack. It doesn't follow, has no place in this discussion.

There is no excuse for anyone shooting at Dobbs’ attic, family, or person…none, nada, zip. I’m thankful the siding seems to have been able to deflect the bullet and I hope forensic analysis can assist the authorities in bringing this miscreant(s) to justice. I am glad all persons are safe.

Dobbs: "It's become something else. And if anybody thinks we're not engaged in a battle for the soul of this country right now, you're sorely mistaken."

Whatever.

Pretty much sums up the entire topic..

I can only add that while the left is crucifying Dobbs for scapegoating brown people for the nations woes, the right has been contributing to the illegal immigration problem for decades and has no real solution to the problem. Dobbs is getting viewers, he is not posing any solutions or exploring the issue in any depth at all. I just drove through the Salinas valley this week. Hundreds of thousands of acres planted in crops surround 101. Who exactly is going to maintain those fields, plant those crops and pick them but for Mexicans and Latin American peasants?
Local police said it was likely a hunter...

Dobbs is a blowhard.

Lets have a national discussion about it in a rational way. We could start by having older latinos who were in the bracero program discuss how it worked, what was good, bad and so on. We could have owners of farms talk from their point of view. We would talk to civil rights people, police, immigration officials...we could actually get people that know what the hell they are talking about...instead? We have Michael Savage...
Re: sure.

I like Savage.....he's been right on a lot of things.
Awwww and yet...

you do not have a problem with the hate speech spewing righties like Lou Dobbs.

Dobb's account of being shot at has come into question by the police investigating the incident.

Something else interesting is you have no problem with the violence against illegals because of Dobb's hate speech and that's just what this is all about. Lying accusations by Dobb's.

If Dobbs is so terrified about any threats to he and his wife maybe he needs to consider shutting his hate filled mouth. Where I'm from there's a couple of old sayings...what goes around comes around or paybacks a bitch. Looks like it's coming back around Dobbs way now. heh

I agree with you righties...guns are our friends and everybody should own one.

You had me fooled. I actually thought you wanted to discuss this rationally. Liking Savage is like saying Attila the hun was a nice guy.
