Friday fun! Choose a name for Volt color!
by spreadsheet

Evidently, GM is going to run a contest to let the public name one of the colors it's chosen for its new Volt. I've not seen the actual color and can't post it herein, so in order to play this game, you need to use your imagination.

Anyway...the color is described as silver with just a hint of green. It's not silver-green, mind you - it's silver with a HINT of green.

My submission is: "Lakeshore Dawn".

What's yours?

oh, I thought we got to pick the color. I'll take a black Volt, please.

that silver with a hint of green sounds like what I have on my living room walls....ancient marble.

Julie, I gotcher shiny black Volt on the charger as we speak. I'll let you know when the little red light turns green. Alas though...you get no points for your "ancient marble"!

you know what the Danes are doing? their batteries are good for 200 miles, so they're turning their old gas stations into swap stations. turn in your old battery, get your new one and drive on for another 200 miles.

So I hear. The Israelis are ramping up a similar scheme and it's all quite "elegant". The Israeli battery stations will rely on renewable energy, as will I'm sure, the Dane's. In the Israeli's case, it'll be mostly solar. Anyway...those batteries won't just be sitting idle between trips. They'll serve as storage for the solar energy produced during the day, then feed it back into the grid at night.

We could certainly do something similar here. Although....we'd probably have to endure a half decade or so of Foxshittian carping about how the commie-nazi-socialist guvmint was trying to shove a standardized battery down our throats.

Well....I'm not sure I'll be passing OUR ideas on to the folks at GM, or not! For sure...whatever they come up with, will sound like its been pulled directly from someone's nethers. That's how it is with those "color namers".
