"Low Expectations" by Barack Obama -- in bookstores soon!
by Bamster
Dicken's classic Great Expectations will be updated in Obama's own vision for this era, huh?
Back to Gloating Again, I see...

All that smugness from the New American Century years is still kicking around the Hamster psyche. But look, his current victory dance is based on the near future of Joe Lieberman. I have to assume there are things Joe still wants, and that he's caucusing with the Democrats for a reason. The LBJ approach to dealing with pissants like Fighting joe featured some carrot and some stick. It's time for the stick.
"Really Low Expectations" a new book by Barack Obama

Just when I think libs cannot get any kookier in their blind support of The Messiah, I'm stunned by yet another glaring example of their hero worship. Latest example: Obama's plan to set low expectations (i.e., failure) in Afghanistan is hailed as savvy political brilliance.

As my friend recently said about the president recently: "Enough with the JFK, he needs a bit more LBJ!"

Well, I think we are talking about honest expectations about what we can and can not achieve in Afghanistan. Such talk is very long overdue, and sounds quite sober and conservative to me. Remember, it's conservative to acknowledge the limits of government power and reject pie-in-the-sky schemes like rebuilding whole societies from scratch.

Unfortunately, politically speaking, it's hard for Obama, who spent all of the presidential campaign echoing Demcrats' demands to "Finish the job in Afghanistan," to talk about lowering our expectations and finding a way out. Ironically, it would have been far more easy politically for a Republican war hero, McCain, to get us out of Afghanistan. For Obama to leave, it is open season on Democrats for Republicans to call them wimps and defeatists and anti-American and in league with Al Queda, patsies who are going to get NYC nuked tomorrow, you name it.

Well, it's time for Obama to be the president and lead us the hell out of that useless, pointless quagmire anyway, and to explain to us that it is for the good of the country to not let more American boys continue to die there needlessly, even though the Republicans will use this proper move cynically in the next election cycle.

That is what leadership is. Obama needs to show a lot more steel in his spine than he has so far.
