For those of you who have had a problem with this poster, my email hasn't changed the whole time I've worked here. It's frayeditor@slate.com

Today was the first I heard of this situation, because one of you emailed me. When things get out of hand, that's a much more efficient way of getting my attention than attacking the site.

Those of you who chose that route created two problems where there need only have been one.

Certainly racist, sexual comments were flying in both directions...which ONE poster are you talking about?

Not quite sure I get it, but I think you may mean that "flaunting" different nics is not such a good idea?

Not that I've done that. Fortunately, you haven't banned me since the new format. ;-)

It’s like this…..Everyone had a problem with D.Pirate…they came up with a brain storm to over rate his posts to put them on the main page of the fray as the highest rated…in an attempt to call attention to what they felt was a fun way to show him in a negative light. ….but using their one nick wasn’t enough…some people decided to “attack the site” by creating multiple names to give D. Pirate even more ratings. This has pissed off the editors because the rating page is obviously automatically generated…. by how many rates are recorded. ....By doing this they all put the most offensive posts/threads on their main page for the world to see. Not good for business. Apparently he wouldn’t have noticed but someone emailed him about D. Pirate and complained which opened the can of worms….and here he is. Furthermore he is saying that all you need to do is email him about the problem poster and he can take care of it...but because some decided to highjack their site...now he has a problem not only with the offensive poster....but the people adding fuel to the fire.

At least that’s what I get from it. lol

Everyone had a problem with D.Pirate or just a few whiny leftists that decided to spam the site (scream the loudest) to get attention.

Because DreadPirate beat them at their own game.

I deliberately stayed out of the whole mess. I was asked to join the rating scheme and I declined. I am just stating what I think the editor meant…I might even be wrong but that’s what I am guessing.

They got beat at their own game and started screaming and stomping, like they do...eventually scheming to attack the site.

Id like to think this new wipe will make things more civil in here :) but i doubt it.

I was also asked to join the scheme. I did give a rating and withdrew it a couple of minutes later when I realized what was going on.

What it is is that some people here want an echo chamber and if they can't get it........they'll destroy this board.
