Israel denying Palestinians access to clean water
by americaislost

This is what your friend does with the money and the military support America sends every year.. Israelis continue the illegal occupation, Israelis continue to build more illegal settlements and Israelis continue to deny water to the Palestinians. No Palestinian is allowed to drill for water. Israeli illegal settlements have no limits on amount of water they steal from all of the stolen land in the West Bank..

These are your friends the real terrorists..in the Middle East... ..Isnt it about time the your government put a stop to the flow of money and weapons to those Israeli terrorists that are stealing Palestinian land..

Israel denying Palestinians access to clean water
Tue, 27 Oct 2009 06:27:41 GMT
As a result of Israel's 'discriminatory' policies, Palestinians' access to water supply is far below the minimum recommended by the World Health Organization.

Amnesty International on Tuesday accused Israel of preventing Palestinians from receiving adequate clean and safe water while allowing the "unlawful Jewish settlers" of the occupied West Bank almost unlimited supplies.

According to the report, Israelis consume four times as much water as West Bank Palestinians whose water consumption at best reaches 70 liters per capita a day. The report also says that in some areas of the West Bank, Palestinians are surviving on as little as 20 liters of water per capita a day, which is below humanitarian disaster response levels recommended to avoid epidemics.

In contrast, water consumption by Israeli settlers in the West Bank is 300 liters per capita a day.

"Water is a basic need and a right, but for many Palestinians obtaining even poor-quality, subsistence-level quantities of water has become a luxury that they can barely afford", said Amnesty's Donatella Rovera.

The 112-page report says while West Bank Palestinians are not allowed to dig wells to fulfill their need, Israeli settlers of the region are enjoying swimming pools and green gardens. There are also reports suggesting that Israeli authorities destroy Palestinian's cisterns and impound their water tankers.

"Swimming pools, well-watered lawns and large irrigated farms in Israeli settlements in the OPT (occupied Palestinian territory) stand in stark contrast next to Palestinian villages whose inhabitants struggle even to meet their domestic water needs", the report added.

The human rights group has also accused Israel of causing a "water crisis" in the Gaza Strip by continuing its crippling blockade on the territory, adding that 90-95 per cent of the region's water supply is now unfit for human consumption because of Israel's three-week offensive against the coastal territory, which damaged water reservoirs, wells, sewage networks and pumping stations

No water, no live - or, as it's called ethnic cleansing.

It's a steal, straight up theivery. Yet, who cares? Anyone who wants to bring it to the UN knows that the US will use its power of veto, so, no-one bothers.

It gets worse. The judge, who was in charge of settling Palestinian/Israeli settlers disputes about who owns land, is another religious nutter. According to him the Bible says that the Jews were given the land by God, therefore the Palestinians own sod all!!

West Bank land belongs to Jews, says Israeli army judge

• Settlements lawyer reveals core beliefs
• Peace with Palestinians 'goes against nature'

Major Adrian Agassi did not make the connection between the Bible, the land and the Jews when, fresh out of university, he left England for Israel in search of his roots. He was not even a practising Jew.

But over the past quarter of a century, the Israeli army lawyer and then military judge at the forefront of arguably the most significant battle in the occupied West Bank – the confiscation of Palestinian land for the construction of Jewish settlements – has come to see himself as in service of a higher duty.

In an unusually frank interview, which offers insights into the melding of religion, politics and law that underpins land seizures in the occupied territories, Agassi has laid out his belief that Israel has a biblical claim to territory beyond its borders and that he, even as an immigrant, has a right to live on it when those born there do not.

"When we [Israelis] say that this is a political conflict, then we lose the battle," he told the Guardian, adding that it should be remembered that the ancient land of Israel is "given to us by the Bible, not by some United Nations".

Agassi, one of the most important officials in the military courts wielding authority over large parts of the West Bank, says settling Jews on lands that made up ancient Israel stands above all other biblical commandments and only when it is done can they have "a promised land and a promised life".

"You say that these lands 'passed into Jewish hands'. Others would say that they came back into Jewish hands. Others would say that they are obviously ours, inherently," he said. It was, he claims, a mistake to call it the State of Israel. "If we would have named it the State of Jews, the Arabs would have understood that this land belongs to the Jews."

Agassi served in the legal department that oversaw the confiscation of land in the West Bank to build Jewish settlements and was then appointed to the military court that decided Palestinian appeals against the seizure of their property. The Palestinians almost never won. His court also ruled on legal disputes between Jewish settlers and Palestinians.

Agassi denies his credo affected his legal judgments but his court was considered so biased by some critics that on one occasion the military prosecution, in an unusual step, appealed against Agassi's ruling in favour of settlers to Israel's high court.

Agassi was born in Southgate, London, in 1964 to a family of rabbis from Baghdad. He studied law in the UK and emigrated to Israel at the age of 24 "with £500 and all of Bob Dylan's records". Four years later he found himself dragged into the first Palestinian uprising, the intifada, as a legal adviser to the military in the West Bank.

"I was very young and suddenly found myself in front of the stones and Molotov cocktail and the hate. I studied law, I had a liberal education, but I was at war and I knew we were right," he said. "I was 26 years old, I came from a foreign land. Those actions guarded our existence in the land of Israel. It lies at the heart of the conflict. It's a legitimate means to continue the works of our forefathers Abraham, Joseph and David."

Agassi says a peace agreement with the Palestinians "goes against nature" because as far as he can see nothing had changed in last 4,000 years in the land of Israel, and that back to biblical times Arabs and Jews were at each other's throats.

Agassi uses the term Arabs because he claims Palestinians do not exist.

He came to this conclusion over the past decade while serving as a special judge for administrative arrest. Based on confidential intelligence reports, without trial, Agassi sent several hundred Palestinians – deemed to be terrorists or security threats – to prison for six months or more.

"You read the raw intelligence material and you see that most of them are moved by religious doctrine, not by a political one. They use religion in order to justify killing as many Jews as possible. Is this not a religious war?"

There are always two sided to the story....in the 80's I spent time in what you call Palestine for the purpose of helping to put down several wells. They had and still have the permits required but after a year of being blocked at every turn by the Palestinian governing forces we gave up.
Re: Israel denying Palestinians access to clean water

What we call Palestine? What would you call it?

Who did you have the permits from, the Palestinians, or the Israelis?

Re: Israel denying Palestinians access to clean water
by TruettCollins
Because there is no such group living in the area who were ever know as Palestinians................ The permits were permist that the "Palestinians" had from the Israelis.... They still have permits but have not drilled the wells to date....after all they want to be seen as being mistreated, when it is their own governing authority are hurting them as much if not more than the Isralis, then you throw in the dealings with the surrounding Arab countries yes they are in a very bad situation...how ever you and those who hate anything labeled Jew will never hold Hamas, or the other Arabs responsible for their part in the problems....simply out of your blind hate.

let's see, the Palestinians have permits from the Israelis to dig well, in Palestine - ie: Gaza and the West Bank, and they refuse to let you dig the wells for them? I find that very hard to believe. A simple Google search on: "Israel refuses palestinian permits to dig wells" produces 27,900 results - <link>

I notice that you skipped anything in AILs, or my post, but instead did a misdirect! You sure you ain't a Bushite?

Re: Israel denying Palestinians access to clean water

Oh, and where do you get the hate Jews bit from? Could it be that anyone who offers a criticism of Israel automatically gets that title from you?

There's one helluva big difference in criticising the acts of Israel towards it's neighbours and it's indigenous population and hacking Jews as a whole. The majority of Jews, that I've met, have been ordinary, decent, law abiding people, then there's Israel and the illegal settlements, illegal not only by international law but by Israeli law too.

They aren't settlers, they are illegal squatters. Have a look at this video: <link> you'll not that the video is from an Israeli source!!

And, I too have been in Israel, back in '61/'62.

How did the Gaelic people come to rule in Scotland.....before the British took over rule?

Re: Israel denying Palestinians access to clean water

That's a damn stupid question - one which has no bearing on the top posts. More misdirection ?
Re: Israel denying Palestinians access to clean water
by TruettCollins

It address your claim of "they are illegal squatters"......

Re: Israel denying Palestinians access to clean water
by Wulk
Don't be silly. They are illegal by international, and Israeli law, or do you want to go back into pre-history where might was right?
Re: Israel denying Palestinians access to clean water
by TruettCollins

Why don't you address the illegal attacks on Israel that led to their taking the bank as a buffer between them and those who will not even admit they have a right to exist......

Re: Israel denying Palestinians access to clean water
by Wulk

Still dodging the issue, eh?

You state that Israel took "the bank" whatever as a buffer between itself and someone who was attacking it. Why then is Israel illegally populating that buffer? Will they now have to create another buffer, and then another, until they reach the banks of the Euphrates?

Re: Israel denying Palestinians access to clean water
by TruettCollins

What has any country done in the history of the world when they have taken land? They have pupulated it. You see the problem is that people want to hold Israel to a different standard than they do every other nation in the world.

Re: Israel denying Palestinians access to clean water
by Wulk

That was back in the dark ages Truett, hell, even us British have stopped doing it - Mind America is, as usual, a bit slow to catch on.

Why don't you just admit that it's your religious nuttiness that makes you let Israel off the hook on just about everything?

Let's see; Israel is the promised land, overflowing with milk and honey, but, no oil - even the Palestinians, on the wee bit of land they have left, have discovered vast gas reserves, not that they'll have any chance to keep them, or develop them.

Then there is Gods' chosen people, Jews, not Anglo Saxons, or any other race, just Jews. Mind, we have to take the word of just one Jew for that!

Suit yourself, if you want to feel inferior to a bunch of rabid savages, be my guest!
