Your problem with Pelosi is that she has a lot of sense, and is a strong woman. She can't be led around by a nose ring, as can old Joe.

Lieberman lost the democratic Primary to another Democrat,switched and became an Independent. Republicans did not like their lack luster candidate,so they voted for Joe.That is how Joe won his last election.And,he won that by the skin of his teeth.
