That isn't true however. According to CDC recommendations, children and young people are much more at risk for this particular flu (H1N1) because this same flu actually did come through, in 1974.So people born after 1974 have never been exposed to it and thus developed immunity to it.
Look it up. And as you noted the CDC is indeed recommending children get the vaccine, all children.
So, if you believe that The First Lady can not get access to the vaccine, well, that's something I guess the koolade provides to instantly alter your belief system, when it comes to any matter re: The Obamas. But clearly, the CDC recommends that all children get the H1N1 vaccine.
Now, if Gibbs had said the children are not likely to be exposed to commercial travel where the ventilation and air is recycled and exposed to the public where the chance of acquiring the disease is highest, then that's a legitimate argument against the kids not getting or needing it.
However, there is still the question of leading by example for First Lady ,as a representive example in action, of what the rest of us should be doing, according to Government CDC recommendations.
Her kids clearly they fly in Air Force one and are transported by private Limo, so their chance of being exposed to the virus is much lower than the average child. But , that isn't the reason she gave for not having them vaccinated.
Unavailability of vaccine for her, and her kids, simply won't fly. Sorry.
