what every president wants

is to silence his critics

if a sitting president can cast asperisions on his detractors for simply being out of office - well, shame on us for accepting the hilarous premise that someone who served 8 years at the executive level has less legitimatcy than someone who has served 8 months.

my post is devoid of judgement over whether cheney's military advice has any value or not - it should be debated on its merits, not on his current job description (political pundit and former VP) . . . and for the record, i've posted numerous times in fray that i have yet to see how we could possibly put enough troops in afghanistan to prevent taleban inflitration into every village and hamlet the moment the kersosene lanterns are doused each night.

cheney, carter, clinton and bush have as much right to their opinions as anyone else. fox has a right to broadcast those opinons, and so does CNN, MSNBC, and even CBS - despite their loss of honor with the faked national guard documents.

stop trying to censor opinions before they're rendered. let the public hear the opinions, and compare them to other opinions.

unless you don't believe in a free press and democracy.

that's just it, it is being debated on its merits in spite your protest.

what is debated is whether a VP who ignored all warnings OBL was determined to attack america, and did absolutely nothing about it (Bush was on permanant vacation pre 9-11) who instead spent his days plotting how to steal Iraqi oil fields as he met with ENRON execs and the like from day 1 but couldn't manage to hold so much as 1 meeting on the anti terrorism commission he chaired, who waged a coup at he CIA and pentegon to manufacture fals intel to lie america into the war he wanted with Iraq, claiming Iraq attacked us on 9-11...who held back our military, and only went into Afghanistan with 11K man army when we have more fucking cops in NYC alone, who started 2 wars, 1 illegal as fuck, without en exit strategy or game plan to win because as the memo said PUSH WAR WE WIN ELECTIONS....should be speaking on the subect at all when in truth if the spineless democratic party prosecuted our laws THE Dick, Cheney would be rotting in a federal prison right now with one right all of America would demand he exercise, the right to remain silent and shut the fuck up.

I like how conservatives respond to any criticism by claiming that someone is trying to censor them. Who is trying to censor Cheney? There's a difference between telling someone that they should shut up and trying to force them to shut up. Cheney has a right to say whatever he wants to, but when he does everyone else has the right to point out what a hypocritical douche he is.

The same goes for Fox and their apologists constant crying about how Obama, Emmanuel etc are trying to "censor" them and the right wing fringe radio commentators (Limbaugh, Hannity etc)'s insane (and, since then, quietly dropped) ravings about how Obama was going to censor them via the fairness policy.

This is all especially amusing since conservatives, particularly in the Bush/Cheney administration, actively supported suppressing free speech rights during Bush's administration, most notably by designating "free speech zones" into which protesters were corralled to prevent W from having to hear opposing opinions. You'd think conservatives would be aware that the entire country is a free speech zone if they were one hundredth as gung ho about the Constitution as they pretend to be.

this whole idea that obama is trying to silence his critics is nothing but conservatives as victims. they play the victim card again and again.

bush had fake news conferences and hired supposed journalists to ask questions and write colunmns supporting his policies.

bush illegally monitored e-mail and phones and now conservatives are upset because obama says fox is not a journalistic enterprise.

well if you think beck, limbaugh and oreilly are jounalists than you are not a rational person.

no - theres no difference . . .
by baltimore aureole

"telling someone to shut up", in the political arena, is no different than forcing them

you flunk democracy and freedom of speech 101

but i'm not telling you to shut up

people who have poorly reasoned debating points should be educated, not told to shut up.

have a nice day

""telling someone to shut up", in the political arena, is no different than forcing them"

in what reality is that true.

you don't even know the difference between words and actions.
