I agree with Cheney that "President Obama now seems afraid to make a decision and unable to
provide his commander on the ground with the troops he needs to
complete his mission,"
Someone needed to step up and say that for the public to hear. While Cheney might not have been the best person to say it, those who could have more effectively said it (Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton or even VP Biden) just couldn't have done it considering the backlash they might have experienced. But I am sure all 3 of those people know that what Cheney said is true.
Before he was elected, Obama dithered on a number of things because he learned quickly that when he came out with a quick answer (as he did with Georgia ) it was almost always wrong.
Obama's response, that "What Vice President Cheney calls 'dithering,' President Obama calls
his solemn responsibility to the men and women in uniform and to the
American public," was weak. Anyone knows that in a war situation, sitting on one's hands (whatever the reason) is a recipe for death and disaster.
Bravo to Cheney for saying what needed to be said.
