McCarthy has been vilified by the liberals, but the fact is he was almost 100% correct in his accusations. Truman had already discovered he had a communist problem in his administraion and tried to deal with it quitely without telling the public. McCarthy brought the problem to the public and later was proven to be correct in his investigations.
