Sarah Palin endorses independent in NY race.
by Pogue Mahone

This is good to see, and this is exactly what I want to see happen more. A conservative owes no allegiance ot the republican party. As people start to wise up to the democrats and independents start to look elsewhere, I hope they will not run back into the waiting arms of the republicans, but instead start looking at independent candidates and third party candidates. I know Palin is not really an independent but maybe she can start up a trend.

"Republicans and conservatives around the country are sending an important message to the Republican establishment in their outstanding grassroots support for Doug Hoffman: no more politics as usual," wrote Palin on her Facebook page.

She also cited former president Ronald Reagan's belief that "blurring the lines" was not the way to re-build the Republican party and added: "The Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate who more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race."

LOL.

First time Democrats are likely to win that seat since the Civil War according to some.

Congratulations.

I don't really care about the race itself. I highlighted what I think is more important in my opening post.

Ha! She's not "starting a trend", pokey.

She's adding dynamite to the already imploding Republican party. Matter of fact, the "trend" originated with her about a year ago. And it failed, miserably. She and Mac got blown outta the water.

And what's up with only 20% of people admitting to be Republican? Can't you even see what's before you?

You're talking as if "conservative" suddenly means "wild-eyed, fear-mongering, myth-propagating, crazy fringe" is good, in an inclusive/expansive way...lol.

What you people "thought" was a united front against Obama (with your "summer shenanigans"), has turned out to be a civil war within your party, being played out before the country.

Dems will reap the benefits.

;-)

I don't know if Sarah will start a trend, but I hope so. I don't care if the republican party suffers from any shift to independent candidates. My hope is that both parties will suffer from any rise in popularity of independent and third party candidates. I think some of your optimism is just posturing, and part of your schtick.
Interesting..

Nobody contests that the nation is "center right," yet you somehow believe that those that identify themselves as liberals will help the Democrats more than the conservatives will help the Republicans. It's a bell curve buddy, and the battle is not for the far right, or the far right, but for those that are someplace in the 60% in between...They are getting pretty fed up with what is coming from the left...and I dare say more so than a year ago from what was coming from the right.

It will be interesting to see… as someone who has seen Palin take on the toughest of the tough, watch what happens now that she doesn’t have to kiss a campaihn staff’s, or anyone else’s ass.

Of course I'm "posturing". I have good reason to at this point.

As for "schtick"...I don't need it.

Not with what we're all clearly witnessing.

Your position, which I happen to think is untrue, is to "pretend to be happy" (and make lemonade out of lemons) about the circular firing squad that is now the Repub party.

One other thing the dems need to remember is that even their own "blue dogs" are not on board with alot of Obama's agenda. Even if independents win dem seats in moderate districts at the expense of republicans, how will that be good for Obama? The DNC has a veto and fillibuster proof majority right now and they still can't push much of their agenda through. Even if dems hold on to both houses after the next election, it'll only take a few lost seats to get rid of their supermajority. Those seats can be lost to independents or republicans and the result will be the same.

"toughest of the tough"? LOLOL!!!

Yeah, that Katie Couric question about "what do you read?", in which Palin was completely stumped, was scathing and loutish, man. Seriously, it was (lol).

And man, oh man...the way she QUIT in the middle of her term as Gov (because she didn't want to be a "lame duck"?), CERTAINLY exhibits being a "tough chick", right?

Good grief.

You do have a schtick, whether you need one or not. You gloat, and then you wink. Almost all of your posts follow the same pattern. It's almost as consistent as merc's "yup" schtick.

And I am happy when I see independents get a boost. Why wouldn't I be? I'm fed up with both parties right now. The dems will eventually lose favor again(we'd disagree on the timeframe, I'm sure) and I'd rather see independents benefit from that than republicans.

She's so TOUGH
by Kris_

She couldn't handle a late night comedian, and like you say...Katie Couric's "gotcha" question. She couldn't even figure out that she was being pranked when the prankers gave her 7 minutes worth of nonsense that a 7 yr old could figure out was a hoax.

Repub. men aren't thinking with their brains regarding Palin. Because if they were they could surely see her lack of.

Look at her glancing down at the notes her handlers prepared for her and using using them to talk about something totally unrelated to what the notes were about.

Yep... tough
by Don

Very tough..cleaned house in Alaska, and debates up there, one of which I saw, nobody could lay a glove on her. Watch her on Oprah.

Was at our cabin on the Kenai when I got the news she was stepping down.. I was thrilled, as I saw it as her starting, not as her quitting.

I wouldn't have put up with the morons and their crazy suits, and I don't have a young family. She had a clone as a Lt. Gov, so why not step down. Hell she agreed to do it if McCain won.

You could be correct.. but I seriously doubt it.. Not since Reagan's speech in "64, which I heard as a young teen, have I known for sure who I wanted to lead this nation, until I heard her at the convention.. you can't fake that kind of sincere belief...

Yeah.. we have a good idea
by Don
how much insight you have.. Watch Oprah...and keep your pampers on when ya do.
Funny that isn't looked at.

It is not as black and white as people would like to suggest.. would have thought that te "blue dog" control would have been obvious to all as you say.

Yes, I have a "schtick/style". Who doesn't on here? (that's why I would never make a good "poser")

But anyway, I really didn't need to "employ" it...fully, because this isn't about me.

It's about the writing on the wall.

The frustration and "fed-upness" you're admitting to, NOW, is very interesting.

Why now? Why not during 8 years of crushing, looming (what was obvious to many here) disaster?

;-)
