Where there's baloney there's fire.

I don't necessarily disagree with the article and it's points.

But when I hit the paragraph purporting to "explain" why blacks don't do as well on the written portion as whites I was stopped. It's nonsense, made up, pure baloney. He said it's because whites have friends and family who can help them and blacks don't. Why should that be of particular help on only the written portion of the exam, and not the oral portion? Of course, I'm assuming the oral portion is about firefighting...

When I hit a completely bogus paragraph or reasoning example in an otherwise decent looking article, it makes me wonder about the basis for the rest of it that isn't necessarily as transparent as that one paragraph.
