If a WNBA Finals all-the-marbles game falls in the forest, and nobody's around to see or hear it, did it make a sound? With all the talk of cost-cutting during the recession, what's another couple hundred women's basketball players in the grand scheme of tens of millions of Americans out of work? Stern needs to take a long look at doing what's right for his owners, and that means quitting the subsidy game. If America wants women's basketball so much, let the government nationalize it like they want to nationalize everything else that can't stand on its own two feet.

The simple fact of the WNBA is that it exists because rich men want to spend a little throwaway money (a couple million a year in losses is chump change to them) to look like they care about gender equity, possibly at the behest of their wives or because they have daughters.

Is this really what women want? Rah-rah boosterism that's entirely dependent on the men who hold the real power in order to have relevance or any sense of self? That sounds like a mighty weak excuse for feminism, like gender codependency dressed up Monty Python-style to scratch out "domestic inferior to a dominant man" and write in "strong, independent woman".

C'mon, women. I'm as misogynistic, dominant, and "get in the kitchen" as any man on earth and even I think this is demeaning.

"Is this really what women want? Rah-rah boosterism" Without privileges over men, women do not feel equal. Their inability to leverage their femininity is genuine failure. Just remember your own experiences in the mating game. You have to flaunt a lot of power and money (fake or not) and lavish women with gifts. No perques, no play. That's the fundamental of the mating game. If you want to be on the receiving side of the financial exchanges, install a vagina.

Not to stir up another hornet's nest, but this is a lot of why I say "women are like cars and beer. You want to be happy, don't buy American." American women are spoiled rotten from the moment they first suckle at their mother's breast, materialistic, self-entitled, and good for little more than cheap sex. You don't have to be rich for that, you can find plenty of girls who will put out with no strings attached just because they're sluts and if you play up the "bad boy" or "brooding starving artist" angle, they're just as silly and easily swayed as the Apostle Paul (2Ti 3:4-6) said they would be.

I married a Canadian girl from a poor family and our petit-bourgeois lifestyle has been enough to earn me her gratitude on the material front, and my own nature has earned me her love. If you think you need to be a woman to get a fair shake, look beyond our borders.
