Pointless Sport
by Capbreton
The WNBA's real issue is that unlike golf or tennis where good/decent amateur men players would have no hope of beating a pro woman, the opposite is true in basketball. Take any five decent playground men's team that average, say, 6'2" in height and they'd beat the best WNBA team 99 times out of 100 -- maybe 100 out of 100. Sad, but true.

I'm not sure if good amateur men cannot beat pro women tennis player.

I recall reading years ago an article about Chris Evert when she was at the top of her game. She was quoted as saying her brother or brothers were fine amateur tennis players and she could never beat them. I found that interesting.
another real issue

Ok, you and I like to watch the best instead of only the 'so so' but is this true for women fans of sports? To me the real issue is that women are just not that into sports and when they are they are like you and I and perfer to watch the best and thus turn to men's sports.

The only way for women sports to grow is to try to get women to be interested but this has been tried and they just a not interested. Someone said they should make these events about more than just the sport inself. i.e. combine a fashion show with a game? Sounds nuts but hey, they need to try something new.
