Gallup: Obama Suffers Worst Quarter Drop in Approval Since 1953
Posted by David Paul Kuhn

Barack Obama has suffered the worst quarterly decline in his public approval rating of any elected president in the post-World War II era.

Obama's average quarterly approval rating has slipped from 62 percent in the second quarter to 52.9 percent in the third quarter, according to Gallup polling. That 9 percentage point decline is twice the amount of any other post-war elected president. Dwight Eisenhower, Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan saw their standing decline 4 points between the two quarters. No other elected president has declined more than 4 points since 1953. The third quarter began July 20 and ended October 19.

Harry Truman, who of course inherited the presidency from FDR, did have a 13-point drop between his second and third quarters in 1945 and 1946.

Significantly, Obama's plunge in the polls is notable but not new news. Obama suffered the bulk of his decline in late summer, though the media was slow to notice or note. Since summer, Obama has stabilized and generally bobbed slightly above the 50 percent mark.

Among all presidents since WWII, Obama's third quarter approval rating is above only Bill Clinton and Gerald Ford. Clinton averaged 48 percent in the third quarter of 1993. Ford averaged 39 percent during his 1975 third quarter.

More sobering for Obama, Gallup reports that Obama's latest quarterly average ranks 144th, or in the 44th percentile, for all post-war presidents during any quarter.

And both Clinton and Truman were reelected, so what is your point?

Clinton stuck his finger in the air to guage the political winds. If the people were strongly aginst what he was proposing it was altered or droped. Obamacorn doesn't give a rats ass what the people want. He is here to see that we are now a socialist welfare state. I don't see him heading anywhere but downward. Impeach him please.

abd had he prosecuted wall street criminals, investigated/prosecuted the war crimes of the bush administration, he';d be going down as the greatest president of all time inside of 9 months of office.

where he's lost his support is in appeasing GOP scum at the expense of his base who wants the GOP scum who sold america out rotting in our prisons where these maggots belong. when he quits protecting the republican scum, and quits trying to work with republican scum, his approval ratings will go back up. but until then, if he wants to do business with republican scum his numbers will plummet just like it did with the republican scum

Lets see...

DOW's back around 10,000.

My IRA has recovered a significant portion of its pre-recession value.

Iraq is starting to run (and pay for) its own country.

The feds are no longer illegally spying on millions of U.S. citizens.

And one more thing; we no longer have a President who's the laughing stock of the rest of the world.( No thanks to flat-earth 'birther' Red-Scare Republicans like yourself.)

Working out pretty well so far; thanks for asking.

Since you asked...

How's your party looking these days? That Palin-Romney ticket run a thrill down your political leg?

Whatever struggles the current administration is facing, it doesn't change the fact that the GOP is still a grease fire with no leaders, no new ideas, and even less support from the 30 & under crowd than during the presidential election.

Chairman Steele & Co must be taking your message to the wrong streets :)

Polls didn't matter

when Bush's ratings went to 68% disapproval from a high of 92% approval. That is a change of -60%....

That has to be a record.

Any improvement in Stocks is because of Capitalism and NOT Obama!

My IRA has recovered a significant portion of its pre-recession value.

Good! Because after Obama is done screwing up the economy some more, you are really going to need it!

Iraq is starting to run (and pay for) its own country.

Iraq has a chance because Saddam is GONE, and if Bush didn't kill him, Obama would put him back in power and apologize to him!

The feds are no longer illegally spying on millions of U.S. citizens.

Yes they are!

Haha! And the Left said the Right were the fools, HA!

either they matter or they don't. If they matter then how do you feel about the current 8% approval rating for the republican party?

Any improvement in Stocks is because of Capitalism and NOT Obama!

But hasn't Obama turned us into one big disfunctional communist collective? If Obama is nudging this nation into a Marxist hellhole, shouldn't the stock market have continued to go downward as the nation ever more resembles Stalin's Russia?
