What about security?
by Suburbanite
I'm curious if the author was ever worried about someone coming on board during the night? Or during the day, in the middle of the ocean, for that matter.

You mean, sort of like this: <link>

All kidding aside, you can lock the boat with a nautical equivalent of a padlock, if you are so inclined. Crime isn't exactly rampant in the BVIs, so most people only bother to lock the boat if they are moored in a couple of specific places that tend to have more incidents of petty theft (such as Spanish Town or a couple of popular beaches on Tortola).

As a sailboat owner in the VI, I admit I almost never lock up my boat. However, I always tie and lock my dinghy up everywhere I go. They are expensive, and very easily stolen.

They are also great fun for kids to steal and joyride around in, then just let it float out to sea. It is also relatively easy to sneak off with the motor or gas tank.

I know on the west coast it was a concern for us, having a boyfriend who is very high up in the military and federal level helps immensely otherwise I don't know what I would do.

So what does the General do, call in an airstrike on any nearby criminals? Hire the SEALS?
