May I rant? Won't take long.

Get off the phone, put away the blackberry and walk. I'm tired of being bumped into, cut off and and damn near trampled because you people in your cellular oblivion don't watch where you are going.

Thank you, that is all.

I hate the people with the earpieces that look like they're talking to you....so then you respond to them and feel like an ass when they continue their phone conversation like you're not even there. **Nobody saw that, right?**

What I saw this morning was a woman nearly shoved into oncoming traffic by some dipshit on his phone not paying attention to where he was going.

I've almost hit people in my truck that just walk out in front of me because they are too distracted by texting to even notice that they are not on the sidewalk anymore. .

But ... did you know that you can "cop a feel" by "accidentally" bumping into some young thang while they are distracted by texting? Most of the time they won't even notice.

There's a silver lining in every cloud.

I'm sorry, I was on the phone. Did you say something?

hold on, someone is trying to talk to me here.

clip them.

But my biggest pet peeve by far is people who stop at entrances and exits. There are people--mostly tourists-- who go through revolving doors and just stop. Ot just don't move at crosswalks. It's like, what about the line of people behind you using the same revolving door, asshole?

Oh, I hate people who go up escalators and don't go anywhere when they get off. You have to clear a space! There is incoming behind you! And I'm not afraid to push you so I don't get trampled, either.

And don't get me started on knuckleheads who take up the whole sidewalk and stroll ... very... slowly. Everyone should follow basic trail rules.

"...who take up the whole sidewalk and stroll ... "

not only do they take up the whole sidewalk but they cannot walk in a straight line, so you cannot get around them. I slammed into one this morning like that. I tried passing on the right, she moved right, I tried passing on the left, she moved left. I then moved to her right again and when she swerved yet again, she careened off of me (I don't move if I don't want to). I didn't even appologize, just kept going.

How 'bout people who stop to have conversations in the middle of crowded stairwells? Is this REALLY the ideal place to chat?

And pedestrian accidents have gone up because morons on cell phones/Blackberries have simply walked into the street and been hit by cars. Social Darwinism in action?

(p.s. I admit that I've walked down the stairs looking at my Blackberry--I think I picked it up from my students. I promise I'll stop.)

What are all those people doing in your truck?

A popular pasttime here, especially in the 'burbs, is stopping your car next to someone going the other way and chatting awhile. Occasionally, they stop too far away from each other to converse without yelling, so one or both hop out of their cars, leaving the door wide open, and chat like that. They leave little to no room to get around them, and if you tap on your horn, they give you the Evil Eye and keep talking. Especially fun are the ones who stop in intersection, usually intersections with 4-way stop signs.

No, no, you haven't lived until you're behind two TRACTORS who stop so the drivers can visit on a narrow dirt road with no turnoff for several miles!!
