Questions for the Global Warming Hysterics-errrrr-Concerned Citizens Who Love Earth:
by I-Man
From what I can tell, our carbon emmissions are allegedly the problem, right folks? Well, China will pass the US in carbon emmissions this year, after being at 47% of our output only 5 years ago. They open a new coal plant every day (see the article about Denver trying to cut carbon emmissions (http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/local/article/0,1299,DRMN_15_5580343,00.html) - the equivalent of two small coal factories). See where I'm going here? I've heard enviros say "Well we have to lead on this" and "We have to start somewhere" but isn't that a little ridiculous considering the math? Should we bomb China? The rest of the third world? Stop modernization? How is cutting our carbon emmissions going to make one ounce of difference, considering the rate of increase in carbon emmissions from the rest of the world? I-Man con-fused
While you're at it, ask them why
by GusMcrae

Mars is warming.

Could it -possibly- be due to solar activity? Or, have the Chinese gone extra-terrestrial?

Re: While you're at it, ask them why
by I-Man
it's hard enough to try and get them to respond rationally with the easy questions. sigh
Mars has warmed due to a dust storm.
by bitterpills
It hasn't been warming for as long as Earth. Also, there's no upward trend in solar output since the late 70s and Mars started warming after that.

"How is cutting our carbon emmissions going to make one ounce of difference,"

Cutting our emissions by one ounce actually makes three ounces of difference, but you probably didn't want to hear that.

So, since we've been at it longer than China
by bitterpills
more of the excess carbon in the atmosphere is ours than theirs. Also, China has many times more people so their per cap rate is less than ours. That's not to say that China's emissions growth won't need to be reversed. Everyone recognizes that. But your "China's doing it too" argument for pollution is a rather silly one. I don't personally think that China's record on the environment, human rights, etc. is really one we should aspire to.
wtf????
by I-Man
someone said we should aspire to china's record or something like that? I have no idea what u are talking about. If you'd like to address the facts and points in my post I would love to respond.
aw, sedek! I thought for sure you were
by I-Man
going to address the straightforward points in my post. You seem so smart! Hopefully you will change your mind I-Man hopeful
I took your argument to be "we shouldn't bcuz China isn't".
by bitterpills
Sorry for the confusion. Looking back at your top post, however, I'm not sure which of us is confused. If that's not your argument, what is?
Actually, if we limit ours and find
by Woolley

technical solutions to these problems, the Chinese will be one of the first to buy our technology and expertise. They know they have a huge pollution problem and I believe they will come around if led. As for your alternative option which is to do nothing because the guy next to you is doing more, thats what you see in any filthy location. In fact, its one of the excuses lazy people have for not cleaning up, they just point to their other filthy friends and say:

"I will clean my mess when he cleans his mess. Until then, I will continue to make a mess."

My kids tried that on my wife. Worked for about 1 minute.

What was our 'downward' trend
by GusMcrae
between the 40's and 70's due to? I mean, since CO2 was increasing the whole time?

We've seen this post before. Your only point seems that China is doing it so we should continue. Probably explains your backward hat, baggie pants, and crack habit. "But the gangstas are doing it!"
"Buy"?? lol
by I-Man
personally I don't think carbon emmissions are the problem. If they were, wouldn't we see huge effect due to the increase in emmission, even just in the past few years?
You are so consistently wrong
by Woolley

that it may end up being a greater achievement than Bonds breaking Aarons record. In the many years you have been tormenting us, you have yet to be on the right side of any argument. That is a streak that is approaching 45,456 posts. All you need is a few more and you will exceed your closest rival in conservative escapism, Don. As someone once said:

Thats not right. Hell, thats not even wrong.

Ever been there?
by Woolley
In Guangzho, you cannot see the ground from the 10th floor some days, its disgusting.
