I foresee billions of dollars spent on a wasted effort to build a nation for people who don't give a damn about having a nation or improving their middle ages life style. God knows how many American's will be killed, maimed, and injured in a futile adventure that will most likely end with congress eventually getting tired of the whole thing and shutting off the money spigot! Sound familiar? Can you say Viet Nam? It's time to for us to leave the Afghan people to their own devices and get the hell out of there before it's too late for the thousands of young American service men and women who are being asked to risk their lives in a third world crap hole they shouldn't have to be risking their lives in........in the first place!

The ones who think that continuation or escalation are a good idea either weren't alive through most of the Viet Nam war, want to pretend that we "won" it, or only think that we DIDN'T "win" it because of Cronkite and the hippies.

Sigh!

Can't we just leverage off the Russian's experience in Afghanistan? After all, they went in to the country as a First World Superpower called the Union of Soviet Socialists Republics and left as just plain old Russia.

Surely there is a lesson there.....
