We all know that this is about racism but it could well be about anything at all. Religion fits right in there too. We are good, they are bad. Fearing gays? Works perfectly into this song. Mexicans? Si Senor. But the conservative movement has gone way beyond just vilifying one race, religion or orientation. They have defined themselves since the 40s as the party that absolutely hates anyone that is a liberal. They have drummed this into us for so long that being called a liberal is like being called a communist. Like Rogers and Hammerstein said, you have to be carefully taught.

Good speech, applicable in most cases but it’s not a black and white world, discretion is still required for action, not ideology. I think conservatives understand that.

By the way, who is our “master” you were referring to, Reagan or Jesus? I follow no master but the latter, and if that is the basis for conservatism, well, what a start.
