Earl Butz and the Supreme Court
by ozarkcynic
Let me show my age. Thirty-some years ago Secretary of Agriculture Earl Butz found himself in trouble when, while at the World Food Conference in Rome, he mocked the Pope's opposition to birth control by saying "He no playa da game, he no make-a da rules." Poor form, but not a crazy underlying idea: you ought to have spent a little time on the field before you tell others how to play. We have a Supreme Court composed almost exclusively of jealous spectators (We're so much smarter than all of the people who appear in front of us, and it's not fair that we're the lowest-paid people in the room) deciding how the players should be paid.

I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out the judge was going to get half of the "bonus" he set. Lawyers are all crooks and judges are lawyers, ergo, judges are crooks. If it looks like a duck............................
