"In other words, boys don't have to get vaccinated for the same reason they don't have to wash dishes, do laundry, buy birth control, or think about other people in general: Girls will do it for them."

Um... F U VERY MUCH? Misogynistpigmuch? I hope you meant that tongue-in-cheek, I really do. Even if you did: shame on you.

Yeah, I've been doing my own laundry and dishes for most of my life...and thinking about other people.

I thought it was a funny comment. Sad to say that my wife had to remind me of my mom's birthday the other day. I did do the laundry last night though.

Thank you for posting that reply, I thought for a second I might be the only person a little miffed at the decision of this, questionable, author to include such aggressive statements.

I thought this was going to be an article relating the differences in the vaccine between men and women, but apparantly this Author only considered men in general, sans the vaccine (and a bad generalization to boot).

BTW, I think about other people, and cook/clean for my fiance. happy to say, I still have my man-hood in tact.

Miss the point much? It wasn't just tongue in cheek, it was mocking the idea that girls should bear the responsibilities of boys.

I think he was pointing out a larger cultural trend. I think that women are statistically more likely to take care of all those things than men, even if there are plenty of men who represent exceptions to the trend.

The line was mockery on Saletan's part. He was saying that the reasoning used to justify giving the vaccine only to women is the same sexist thinking that by which all of that other drudgery gets dumped onto women.

I just dont follow this logic. Wouldnt male dominated sexism not develop a vaccine for cervical cancer anyway? And if we were interested in protecting women, wouldnt we give it men only instead, to cover gay men? Giving the vaccine to women only is of almost no benefit to males (unless you are counting protecting your loved ones).
