I Love Walmart
by DokintheBox

Tell me, what is is about Walmart that brings out the biggest asses ever to walk the isle? Holding on to the wagon for dear life and balance, the blue polyesther can barely contain its contents. The flatfoot rubber sole slippers scream as the uppers smear outward. A bonus is the sighting of whale tail. The better news is that Walmart also attracts the ladies with tats sticking out of their shorts; verys sexy, if not a bit trashy, but I like it.

The salvation is Target. All those 20-something, 30-something moms....

Me thinks your problem isn't fat people per se, but the abhorrent manner of dress common to many lower-middle class white Americans.

My local Target is VERY hispanic, and the people tend to be short and chubby. (The clothing matches them). But they take care of themselves - the mexican women haven't yet gotten the idea that "big = bad," so they wear pretty clothes and do their hair nice and generally look aesthetically pleasing. Same for the guys.

But head up the interstate an hour to the exurban white Target and holy shit. Sweatpants, crocs, and the occasional all-american skinny ass blonde in her boyfriend's jacked up F-150.

Fat stigma CREATES ugly fat people, by encouraging fat people to give up on trying to look nice.

Remember when WalMart had plans to require physical activity from all employees (i.e. cashiers gathering carts in the parking lot) in an attempt to reduce health care costs and absenteeism caused by their more-over-weight-than-average workforce? And everyone got mad about it? That was funny.

Dogs, you got the story wrong. The reason a WallMart executive suggested having cashiers gather up carts in the parking lot was to force older ones who had worked for Wall Mart for years to leave because --gasp-- when you get to be fifty you don't have the strength you did when you were twenty.

The idea, clearly stated in the leaked memo was that this would enable WallMart to get rid of their longtime employees without risking age discrimination suits. So if you only had young people working then health costs would be lower. (in all supermarket and stores with carts, cashiers are not the ones to bring them in so it coulnd't be argued that this was in cashiers' job description).

Of course those older cashiers would have tried, because they wouldn't want to lose their jobs, and as a result would come down with severe disabilities that the rest of us would have had to pay for. Surely you must be aware that Wall Mart employees get paid so little that many of them are elligible for food stamps and those who are parents for Medicaid? The new Wall Mart health insurance is extemely skimpy. So again we, the tax payers, have to cover the costs that WallMart saves.

And by the way, check it out, WallMart is far from being the least expensive store around...
