What's On Your Ipod?
by rundeep
Hi all. Long time no see. For the half dozen or so of you who are not yet clinically insane, I have a game. You know the rules -- top 10 songs on your music player, car stereo, top of your head, using shuffle or a similar program, no skipping. Heck, I'd even like to see the whackjob choices. Might be revealing.

I will go first:

1) If it Kill Me -- Jason Mraz. The new mom-kid obsession is So You Think You Can Dance. This song was featured in a gorgeous dance by the contestants last season.

2) Dry Grass & Shadows--Alela Dane. No clue where this came from, very country, but I like it.

3) All the Above -- Maino feat. T. Pain. Kid pick.

4) Isn't She Lovely -- Stevie Wonder. With his baby daughter in the background. Still sweet without being cloying. How does he do that?

5) 1234 -- Feist. Still like this.

6) I'm Yours -- Jason Mraz. What can I say. I like him.

7) The Long Way Around -- Dixie Chicks. Whatever happened to them?

8) Time -- The Greencards.

9) Blood Brothers -- The Boss

10) Need you Tonight -- INXS. Remember that reality show where the band picked a successor to Hutchence? Great show, in that iteration. Got someone who could sing, and the whole show was more entertaining than most reality shows.

Anyway, go ahead. Fire away.

I'll have you know my iRiver is in a hundred pieces next to my computer. No way I'm going to be able to fix it, but I can't bear to throw it away. Not that I ever followed the rules of this game anyway.

I can't say that anything I've heard lately has blown me away. The new Memory Tapes is nice. Grizzly Bear's latest never really grabbed me the way it did the critics, though the video of Jay-Z and Beyonce dancing at one of their shows is kind of amusing. I still have St. Vincent's Actor down as album of the year, though the Dirty Projectors' Bitte Orca is a close second. Sadly, I won't get to see them this weekend at Austin City Limits Festival, not being made out of money and all. They are amazing live.

Glad to see you are still around and not insane.

Whats on my Ipod?

The price tag, as its still on the store shelf.

My old transistor still brings in the stations I like and my 8 track player still works, though I admit I can no longer find any new music to play in it. My work trucks cassette player still sounds great and the CD player in my good car works too. So why but a new fangled Ipod when its probably going to be obsolete before its speakers wear out?

I still have 4 styluses for my state of the art record player I bought in the eightites but vynl is as hard to find now as 8 track tapes.

The one draw back to my transistor is that sometimes the anntenne pokes other pedestrians as I walk down the street with it in my jacket.

Unstable or insane, you decide.

What's an ipid?
by Isonomist

Still don't own one.

But right now on my puter are:

1. Blind Boys of Alabama (bunch of classic NO songs)

2. Women of Africa (especially Mingas, of the Orchestra Marrabento de Mozambique)

3. Adiemus Songs of Sanctuary

4. A Fine Frenzy Cell in the Sea

5. Old Crow Medicine Show Big Iron World

6. Marisa Monte Universo Ao Meu Redor

I have no idea what anything in that last one means, except where it's kinda like Spanish (Perdoa, Meu Amor most likely means my lost love, right?) but boy does she sing the hell out of em.
