Chicago never had a chance.
by bigfeet

Rio was the pick from day one and anybody even remotely involved in the process knew it.

The first time a summer olympics in south america, a first for rio. and of course, rio is a party town of the first order. it was a no brainer.

Chicago, land of corruption, bribes, and run by crime bosses didn't have the international clout.

The fact the city had NO venues and a lazy and tepid support from a beleaguered public socked by recession, bank failures and all the fruits of the corruption of the last 20 years didn't have a prayer.

Yep. Good thing there's no crime, corruption, or financial strain in Argentina.

Yes Wolf... Rio de Janeiro, Argentina is a very dangerous place. Just like Albuquerque, in the country of New Mexico.

You can't fool me. I know Albuquergue is in New Zealand.

Oy. Obviously I meant to say "Nova Scotia" not "Argentina."
