What is truth?
by Daysman
-2 Reply

I want to argue that truth is not the same as science. You can not get truth from carbon dating, you can not formulate truth from chemical conversions, and you can't calculate truth from physics and mathematics... truth is something more elusive, truth belongs to the spiritual realm, truth is a still small voice in your ear when all around you have lost their heads, truth is the way the tall pines sway in the mountain breezes, truth is the smile on your three year old when he/she discovers some new world, truth is a law being passed to create a national park in the state of Wyoming, truth is the first time you was tempted to cheat after the the first time you took vows to resist that temptation; and the struggle inside your mind to determine that battle... truth was the light snuffed out by Pontius Pilate only to resurrect as a fire upon the heads of those gathered for Pentecost... and truth is facing up to the real world, even when that world is not a perfect match to the picture of it we have in our convictions.

The truth is, our special forces and third world "death squads" do the exact same thing.

The truth is, our CIA, the KGB, and Hitler's SS did the exact same thing.

The truth is, the communist manifesto was born on Wall street, NYC.

The truth is, central banking was the byproduct of the industrial revolution.

The truth is, the Knights Templar built the first American Express system to the holy land and in doing so, laid the foundation for the world of credit, controlled by secrecy, and continued in secrecy, giving us one world government as their byproduct.

The truth is, the USA has a long a storied record of staging attacks upon it's own people for purposes of stirring up political will.

The truth is, JFK was dying from a painful disease anyway, when he was assassinated.

The truth is, there is no truth in politics.

What is it, that momentum inside our brain that drives us forward? We perceive the world through our frame of reference, we believe the world is what we see it as, and yet, none of us see it as it is. We lock onto "truths" but how can an idea become a rock? Ideas flow like a river through our minds, but we reject most of them and we latch onto some of them, and this builds our character, but does that make any idea "truth"? Because we latch onto it?

You have men of science on this board... who will deny the very rudiments of science in order to go on believing what they have latched onto as "truth". You have men of conviction on this board... who will turn their head from the basest of crimes in order to go on believing what they have latched onto as progressive "truth". You have bankers who will ignore banking in order to go believing in a system of banking that they have entrusted. You have spiritual men and poets on this board... who ill turn their back on the holy spirit in order to go on following any of the wide varieties of orders and denominations contaminated by the intermingling of the jesuits. All of you believe you have the truth, some of you will be amongst those voices crying, "Lord, Lord, we have preached your truth in the streets and worshiped you..." only to finally learn the sad truth that they were only following their own version of Jesus, the ideas in their head that they latched onto as Jesus... it is a sad day that will come in some form or fashion for all of us, because we all do this.

They drove a "rover" dune buggy around on the moon and the contrails of dust from the rear wheels hit the atmosphere of earth - stopping it's inertia - and returned quickly back to the gravity of earth - exactly the same way the dust from the rear wheels of a dune buggy hit the atmosphere ... break and crest and roll back to earth ... from the atmosphere and gravity on earth. Absolute 100% match. Which is damn tough to perform when you don't have any atmosphere and your gravity is six times weaker than earth.

But don't let reality get in the way of your "truth".

2=1+1. Sorry but that is truth.

The other contradictions in your post have been refuted here often and do not deserve additional effort.

It is amazing you have tried to deny the truth even in the first line of this reply.

Jake's Final Essay
by Urquhart

He looked at the title page with puzzlement and growing unease. MY UNDERSTANDING OF TRUTH, by John Chambers, was neatly typed and centered on the sheet, and that was all right, but he had for some reason pasted two photographs below it. One was of a door — he thought it might be the one at Number 10, Downing Street, in London — and the other was of an Amtrak train. They were color shots, undoubtedly culled from some magazine.

Why did I do that? And when did I do it?

He turned the page and stared down at the first page of his Final Essay, unable to believe or understand what he was seeing. Then, as understanding began to trickle through his shock, he felt an escalating sense of horror. It had finally happened; he had finally lost enough of his mind so that other people would be able to tell.

MY UNDERSTANDING OF TRUTH

By John Chambers

"I will show you fear in a handful of dust."

-- T. S. "BUTCH" ELIOT

"My first thought was, he lied in every word."

-- ROBERT "SUNDANCE" BROWNING

The gunslinger is the truth.

Roland is the truth.

The Prisoner is the truth.

The Lady of Shadows is the truth.

The Prisoner and the Lady are married. That is the truth.

The way station is the truth.

The Speaking Demon is the truth.

We went under the mountains and that is the truth.

There were monsters under the mountain. That is the truth.

One of them had an Amoco gas pump between his legs and pretending it was his penis. That is the truth.

Roland let me die. That is the truth.

I still love him.

That is the truth.

"And it is so very important that you all read The Lord of the Flies," Ms. Avery was saying in her clear but somehow pale voice. "And when you do, you must ask yourselves certain questions. A good novel is often like a series of riddles within riddles, and this is a very good novel — one of the best written in the second half of the twentieth century. So ask yourselves first what the symbolic significance of the conch shell might be. Second --"

Far away. Far, far away. Jake turned to the second page of his Final Essay with a trembling hand, leaving a dark smear of sweat on the first page.

When is a door not a door? When it's a jar, and that is the truth.

Blaine is the truth.

Blaine is the truth.

What has four wheels and flies? A garbage truck, and that is the truth.

Blaine is the truth.

You have to watch Blaine all the time, Blaine is a pain, and that is the truth.

I'm pretty sure that Blaine is dangerous, and that is the truth.

What is black and white and red all over? A blushing zebra, and that is the truth.

I can't go home again unless I find a stone a rose a door and that is the truth.

Choo-choo, and that is the truth.

Choo-choo. Choo-choo.

Choo-choo. Choo-choo. Choo-choo.

Choo-choo. Choo-choo. Choo-choo. Choo-choo.

I am afraid. That is the truth.

Choo-choo.

I took honors intergral calculus at Indiana University
by Daysman

One day, one of my class mates showed me a proof that 1+1=3 ... it included the rounding of .99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 unto eternity as equal to one, which was a valid conclusion, and although I have forgotten all my math and science applications, I remember that the proof was valid.... according to the science of calculus, which was handed down to us by the ancient Greeks.

at any rate, I noticed the perfect momentum of your mind in your reply. You have already concluded that everything in my post has already been addressed and refuted, even though I have never posted any of those things before, every item you read is new... but the momentum of your mind and the dullness of your reading concluded them all as old hash that must have been "refuted" by someone... another way of saying that you do not want your "truth" intruded upon by any new version of reality.

fiatt paper and federal bonds
by Daysman
Will Rogers was correct, war builds up federal bonds... which never diminish over time, the idea is to inflate the economy past the old balances and so keep up a running debt..... literally a rolling eight ball that the federal government rolls to the future and also runs from the past.

Oh boy, that's the Truth

I was commenting to a rider the other day, we are ruled by gossip, no one publishes any of the laws that are passed, nobody knows what the laws are and nobody enforces the laws, we are ruled by gossip and the police enforce whatever they are in the mood to enforce, word of mouth is the law of the land.

If Granny Smith has one apple and someone gives her one apple, how many apples does Granny Smith have?

Hint, she does not have three.

ahhhh, but if a rover kicks up dust on the moon....
by Daysman

how high and far does it carry?

hint: it arcs in a perfect circle as far away as the object in opposite motion is pushing against it; and it takes six times as long for the gravity to bring it back down so that circle is very broad ... especially without atmosphere repelling the flight of the dust. So, what do you get from rover wheel dust on the moon? 100 foot arcs? 200 foot arcs? 300 foot arcs? something like that.

2 apples and 200 foot arcs.... if you are really at Granny's house or really on the moon.

I'd say, based on the economic policies of Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid, that Granny Smith can claim she has 800 Billion apples.

the truth is - your post is bullshit
by baltimore aureole

when i read stuff like this, i wonder . ..

  • conspiracy theorist with a meaningful job to keep him busy?
  • student of modern chemistry?
  • some sort of undiagnosed disorder?

the truth is - you have no depth
by Daysman

saying that you "read" stuff like this, is not exactly fair to people who really do read and comprehend "stuff like this". What you do is glance over stuff like this and then dismiss it - without actually reading it at all.... all of which gets reflected in your empty reply.
