First reaction was: if they're going to jump up to a mobile site go all the way and make some decent collapsable JavaScript headings; get with the times. Then I stepped back figured that you were transitioning from thenewspaper world not the blogging world. Only then did I realize that that is what I want you to keep. Whereas blogs are narrowcasting into sports and gadgets and celebrities and economics a news magazine us all those together. That's why I come to slate--when I'm not content with one of my narrowcasting rss feeds.

So don't "simplify" the page by letting me hide sections. In fact, mix it up. Tag it, but list it like a front page--like your homepage with your cover stories right there on top and the interesting ones that will never show up on my rss feeds.
