I am an active-duty Captain in the Army (and a Democrat) that spent one year of my life in the midst of the Sunni Triangle--fighting a war that a large number of my fellow Democrats voted to authorize. I have no idea of what the author's point in debating the accuracy of thermometer readings in Iraq happens to be, but it completely dishonors the sacrifice of the honorable men and women that are unfortunately stuck in the midst of a dishonorable war.
In addition, I don't care if it's 130 degrees or 110 degrees. If you've ever been to Phoenix, AZ in the summertime, you know that 110 degrees is almost unbearably hot! Especially when you put on boots, a helmet, protective vest, long sleeves, and pants.
I don't enjoy spewing invective, but you, author, are a sad excuse not only of an American, but also of a journalist. With all the substantive issues the current situation in Iraq raises, you are going to waste ink on the frieking accuracy of the (indisputably hot) temperatures in Iraq?! What exactly is your point? I invite you to spend some time there to experience the fallacy of those 130 degree temperatures. Not to mention the IEDs, insects, camel spiders, etc...
